Just now on steam news:

Quote: "As you might have noticed if you've been watching some of the gaming news sites, yesterday we announced a few new surprises about Half-Life 2: Episode Two. The first surprise is a new game called Portal which is best described by the video coming out next week. The second big surprise is that Team Fortress 2 will be included with Episode Two. Look for that video next week as well. And the final surprise is that all of these are coming out for PC, Xbox 360 and the PS3."

Thats because Team Fortress 2 has been in development since the release of Team Fortress 1 and was originally using hl1 engine, but it was dropped and then recently brought back.

yep, ignore those old images.
They have been planning a tfc2 forever. Then HL2 and Source and Steam etc put tfc on a back burner. The image I posted is the latest version of TFC2 which is redone completely in Source (HL2 style) and is going to be released with HL2:Episode 2, whenever that is

Now, that's innovative gameplay. It will definitely make for a lot of interesting puzzles!

Finally. Finally, finally, finally we are getting games where the producers put more thought into it than "omg guize lets meak a FPS army geam!!!!!!!". With this, Spore, and the Wii, we're opening up a new generation and type of gameplay completely =) It's great to see.

Someone should make one on DB... the only really hard thing I think is to make it so you can see through the other portal by looking into the first one.

I think the way its done is that when you create an entry portal, a camera is set at that specific point which previews and realays the images at the exit portal.

Team fortress has been seen remade in the quake engine, running off enemy territory. It was ok for a Mod, but Ive never played the real game.

Portal looks damn fantastic! I love origional idea's like that!

Should be "easy" in DBP. Just mapping camera's to an image and then texture a UV mapped object with that image.

Like I said in the other thread, you need to be able to shoot through the portal, like in Prey, for it to be real. It wouldn't just be an image, because that would be too slow.
