well its a lot more then i expected, it feels like lightwave because of the grey layout.

the node tree editor got me with its resizing and zooming and after a while i got the hang of it.
it has many features like after effects however the sequence and structure to use them is vastly different.

it directly imports photoshop files, however it made folders in your layer palette another object node.
stripping the folder structure prior to export/import covered that glitch.

it kicks AE's @$$ in regards to making one change nested down in one particular spot, as the node tree workflow allows greater tweaking in shorter time.

the chroma / keying has only been tried once using one filter primatte from a cgi composed scene with a blue matt applied to non animated areas.
its effect was impressive to say the least, virtual one click key.

the camera stability features pay for the whole piece of software, there are tonnes of video shots
I can regain due to bumps ruining the shot

usually a pulldown menu at the top is where you find the standards in all media development applications, however this program considers them effects and filters, so they live in a tab index amongst the filters. weird! eg: import is a button called [file in]

this dual 2.5ghz machine cannot do 1920 x 1080 (1080i) without waiting for renders in shake, however its only a few minutes for complex renders so far. all the other software does it real time,
it is the most intensive component, compositing video,3d and still imagery etc..
its got an old 9800 xt might change that and only 3 gigs of ram, perhaps time for more.

time for a quad dual core machine so broadcast editing and composition is near realtime.

so far really happy with the purchase, cant wait to secure a tv add project!.

Waiting for final cut pro 5 because FCP4.5 and shake 4.1 wont seamlessly integrate until 5 gets here in a few weeks. this way you can hand over video to shake from fcp with one click, while retaining the whole project as scripts, greatly reducing the hard drive space required to store the project.
