no... a data statement works as such...



a read statement only returns values to a variable

you could by assigning each data space with a command referenced by a number.

eg
data space 1 with data of 1 means load a cube but
data space 1 with data of 2 means load a cone

as one idea

after u have read in the data u can apply things to it via what data is stored in the first place.

Constants can come in handy here. e.g.


your data still has to have the right numbers in it, but the constants can help remind you what it all means and make your code more readable.
