I have a PC (Win2kpro) and a laptop (macOSX). The mactop uses the wireless, while the windows is wired. SMC router. I'm trying to share files between the two, and they used to work just fine. Then one day it stopped working. Windows can ping the mactop and it shows up in the workgroup, but I cant open it. The mac can't seem to ping windows. There's another PC with WinXP that can ping the Win2k but not the mac, but it doesn't show up on anything. I have appletalk protocol installed and windows sharing on. Any suggestions why this used to work and now nothing?

I would check your firewalls.

If you are using the built-in XP firewall, go to your services and stop the service. (simply telling it to turn off doesn't really turn it off)

I turned off the firewalls on my PC and the router (has one built-in). As for that XP machine, I could care less if it networks with my files, its just the gf's machine. I'm gonna do a restore on the laptop, but cant find my system cd, im quite P.O'ed at the moment.
