yes either use a trigger zone to activate an animated HUD, that fills the entire screen,

or use decals to create light/heat effects.

I'm sorry I'm too busy to help with a tutorial.

check out the dooruse.fpi script for a look at activating huds, then look in the manual around PG44 for info on other HUD commands.

the gamecore/huds folder is where you can save your huds.

gamecore/decals contains your decals, but you must also create a decal entity in the entitybank/generic/decals folder.

I suggest that you learn how to program and then get yourself a copy of Dark Basic Professional. Then you can have more freedom on what you put in your game. Check out the ultimate shaders thread on the Work In progress board and they have code for Dark Basic Professional on how to make the effect you are after. Trust me, while people can create nice looking results in FPSC, it is really very basic, for creating the most basic type of FPS. Sorry, but thats life.

dude, all the stuff I suggested you do, was descovered through hours of experimentation. To be honest, the best way to use FPSC is to explore its possibilities, I gave you the pointers for how to do what you wanted, but really the rest is up to you!

@Butterfingers

So it is possible to have a .gif HUD? I think .gif can be animated.

My site is now updated with info and a teaser about my game The Peacemakers. My blog is now ready and i have written my first contribution!

Check it out now!

You could have a grayscale level if you made a grayscale version of all your textures and decals.

A level in your game that is entirely grayscale. Heck, your whole game could be grayscale if you wanted.

You asked if it was possible to make the game grayscale. I am saying yes it is possible if you make all the textures and decals grayscale for one level, or for the entire game. I am simply answering part of your first question in your first post above.

Maybe, (just a random idea) you could retextur the characters in that area with a thermal kinda thing so that it looks like it, you could change the hud as well so it looks a bit better an then it would be a bit easier to do.

Just an idea
