@mr. love, i'd rather make it myself, it's really doesn't seem that hard, i just need to know how to add an animated texture, or even a decal would be good, how do i make them?

@disturbing 13, you know that 3d water that only moves up and down?

Right we should be knee deep in water segments. They should be falling like rain. we should be swimming in water segments. Our cup should runneth over with...

Professional looking and behaving water effects cannot be achieved currently in FPSC.

There are various workarounds and some reasonable results that can be achieved though its by no means easy. In fact its quite difficult to achieve even those reasonable results in FPSC.

Thats no different to many indie engines which lack professional features. A range of realy good water and other environmental effects are available only in a few.

Any increase or addition to the FPSC feature set may help a great deal - we just have to wait and see what comes along or make do best we can.

If in can just get some good animated textures i would make a free one that should be slow enough to at least satisfy the visual look of flat surface water. Still waiting on a reply from that other thread.

I'll give you step by step instructions and by it's example you will learn. I know your not accusing me, but I'm not going to steal your stuff. I only use custom media for my projects , I'm very picky that way. Im offering help but ya have to let me help. LOL

when i explain stuff nobody seems to listen here goes only gonna say it once-
place your artwork scenes on the one pic 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16. save as a decal.tga. copy and rename the acid decal, water in the same directory it's in. place the decal.tga in that new directory. erase the .dds. place in level , test. Take medication for parnoia.

nah i screwed up the animation, i got a picture of some water and used the twirl tool in paint shop pro and it just looks like a small werlpool going back and forth, and anyway, i don't like to sell the things that i am going to use in my games.

yer, i thouht of a good way to texture water by the way, take a screen shot of the surroundings and add a wave effect with paint shop. that way it will look like it's reflected

that doesnt help for stationary water though wich is a hard effect to achieve, plus careful consideration must be taken as unfortunately we cant control speed very well.

Here is an animated water decal. When you unzip it and open the folder be sure to read the README text document to see how to install it.Most of our older forum members probably will know where the files go but the newer ones may not.
There are two files that need to be copied or placed in the generic\decals folder and the other folder need to be placed or copied into the gamecore\decals folder.
It may not be the greatest looking water in the world but it is animated.

Here is a pic of the water. Thanks to james hawn for the water texture.I used Higgins' decal tutorial...which is coincindentally found in the sticky "Tutorial city"...to make this.
Now you have some halfway decent animated water.

Note:The water looks better ingame when you can see it moving.
I'm not going to win any awards for it but, hey,it's animated water and it's free.
