Has anyone else been Prehistoric Park (ITV1) on Saturday - if not, think of Jurassic Park as a documentary with time travel thrown in.

Its actually pretty good - the sfx can be great. Some of the pseduo-documentary part can be a bit cheesy though.

And, unlike the Jurassic Park films, it doesn't deal with just the big meat-eaters (and no-ones got eaten yet).

But think of all the small children that saw it and now have their heart's set on working there when they're older.

I saw a bit tonight (must have been a repeat, had a wooly mammoth in) and it was ok. The bloke who was hosting it did a good job (he's done the same sort of thing in the past iirc). I'll probably have a proper look next week and see what it's really like.

Its well worth checking out. The Smilodon episode (after next Saturday's one) should be good.

I thought it was ok... but a bit stupid. They rescued a Wooly Mammoth from a period where they were dying because the world was warming up and brought it back to a desert area! Thats just cruel.

The SFX were good - but they're nothing exceptional.

Well, they give it a shave in the next episode - should help keep it cool.

My main problem with it, is they assume that the vegetation that we have now would be suitable. It also seems they wont have enough for all the animals.

In addition, the pens are made out of wood - and dont look terribly strong either. After all, if a T-Rex can cause havoc with metallic cages, what would 2 T-Rex's do with wooden pens ? Perhaps in the last episode, everyone & everything gets eaten

And another thing, the Nigel doesn't have any weapons, which is a bit stupid...

Finally - who owns the park, and where does the money come from - there are no visitors...

Slight issue...he's trying to save them from extinction...but he only brought back one woolly mammoth and one woolly Rhinoceros.

Think he needs to go back to basics and read up on procreation and reproductive techniques.

He's not Noah!

And while we're talking about how unrealistic it is - why has nobody mentioned the small issue of time travel?

Its not detailed enough - all we know is that it requires two poles with a screw top and is manually activated - and possibly manually closed...

Its no worse than Jurassic Park's reconstruction of dinosaurs from dead insects though.

They make it sound so simple to time travel! At least "The Doctor" has some mysterious and complicated looking Tardis!

I would like to know how they power it - especially as the park as no obvious means of income (I cant see Nigel having enough money to built and maintain an artificial black hole).

Perhaps its a front for InGen!

Apparently, when it was previewed in France, some people thought it was real

I've watched an episode of this series but I thought it was very poorly done. A crap version of Jurassic Park.

DINOSAURS ARE ONLY FUN WHEN THEY EAT PEOPLE.

Note: people. Not bears.

Cheer if you like bears! Cheer if you like jam sandwiches!

Yes I did that like 4 years ago and never changed it, I don't need to if you realised it was fighting that is good enough.

[edit] I changed just for you

I finally changed the bad spelling

Shame you didn't take English too. But ignoring your rather blatant anti-French remarks (which we wont see again, will we ?), I dont know why they thought it was real - perhaps it was due to the documentary side of it ?

Quote: "I've watched an episode of this series but I thought it was very poorly done. A crap version of Jurassic Park."

Its not supposed to be an action film... Its a psuedo-documentary about dinosaurs and how the lived etc etc.

God I hope this isn't the begining of a new "Reality TV" type Culture.

That USSR comment had me in stitches. Very funny.

That's pretty much what Jurrasic Park was, only with 90% more human consumption and fun.

Unfortunately Jurassic Park doesn't cover many prehistoric animals, like the Smilidon, Wooly Mammoth etc etc.
