Well, I use Caligari Gamespace (very good for making game content) but if you want a cheap modelling program then I recommend Fragmotion or Milkshape. But if you want to start making your own guns then It will take you a long time to learn if you are new. I've been modeling for 2 years now and started very small. Look at some tutorials on the internet and they may help you.

I DID make a gammaray and a b axe on trueSpace 3.2 (full version available for free) and posted about it, and i need it animating - anybody help?
