Hi all,

Thanks to Microsoft Support (oxymoron?) I managed to get the newsletter sent out just in the nick of time! It has been written and ready for 2 days now, just had one article left to add, but as with last month the 'sending' part of their site is still broken. Ah well, at least it is finally out

This is a monster issue! We've got Dark Physics release news, 'What are TGC doing next' article, a new release of Dark A.I., Dark Lights released, 2 new FPS Creator Model Packs, CodeSurge IDE, Synergy IDE Update, Matrix1Utils, Mini Arcade, Freax Vol. 1 and three great tutorials, including Grants excellent 'Demo Scene Effects' package, which is well.. just totally uber.

Oh and the forum banner winners are in there too The winning banners will be in exclusive rotation for a week or two, starting today.

Phew.. this was a LOT of work this issue, but I feel one of the best yet. Grab it from the usual place. Heck, I'm in a good mood, so I'll even link to it for you

http://www.thegamecreators.com/data/newsletter/newsletter_issue_43.html

Cheers,

a very frazzled Rich

Very, very nice. Thanks for the CodeSurge article, Rich.

Because he's doing something about addressing the issues with it, and updating it. Hopefully it'll continue.

A better business model would be for TGC to support it AFTER determining that he has completed doing something about it and AFTER testing it.

You can't build a castle on top of a swamp. The thing is like 30 mb, installed. CodeSurge is just over 1 mb. Even if he fixes the bugs, it will be a huge unwieldly piece of junk.

I'm going to pay hyrichter for his editor just on principle alone. It is, quite simply, the best IDE for Dark Basic, ever.

Another cracking issue! Grant's scene code is going straight into my archive, and IanM's DLL is downloading in approximately 7 seconds.

I think it's good. Winning doesn't specify most artistic, it's just what catches peoples attention. And Add's certainly did the job.

Thanks for mentioning the audio plugin! I guess since I'm on a paid suspension from work I should get working on it a little more.

Hey, could someone convert the Mpeg in the "Lee's Tip Of The Month" section to .WMV/.WMA or .AVI? I can't view Mpegs.

That reminds me, what program does play Mpegs? I've always thought it was Quicktime, but I have that and it won't play it.
Thanks everyone, and thanks for the wonderful issue Rich! This one especially made me exited

I just use Windows Media Player - it played the mpg without any problems.

But as you were so nice about the issue, here is a WMV version for you

I give in with the Avatar, I've checked out every game I thought it might be, including slightly off-centre ones like Bionic Commando.

I'm guessing it's an Atari classic?

Nope, it comes from a game by Hudson Soft for the 8-bit MSX computer. In Europe the game was called 'Eric and the Floaters' (I've no idea why), but everyone else knows it as Bomberman. Yup, that little guy is the original Bomberman.

Sweet old times! Who can forget computers like "Sinclair Spectrum" , "Amstrad", "MSX", "Commodore"? And their heirs "Amiga", "Atari ST" ...

These all brought a whole bunch of games that really made history ...

Rich, what happened to the 20-liner entry thing? Is it because there aren't enough?
