You can't use .max files in FPSC.If you have 3DS max you should be exporting your files in the .3ds format.
If you are using Gmax you are not allowed to use the models you make in it in FPSC.The Gmax license is clear about that. That is also why Gmax does not have an .x or .3ds exporter.

Maybe the way he has a childish name for the forum and the way he has typed his post. Ive read enough threads to know if its childish and yours came out that way. Iam also fed up of new people coming on here, magically having 3D Studio Max. Also, just because you say your friend gave you it, doesnt mean any thing, it is illegal to give a copy to some one.

You are wrong about that. There is a plugins to .X, .3ds, .ASC , .LWO , .X , .DXF , .COB , and .MS3D formats.
But Gmax is having a trouble with X file exporter. It writes nonstandard X files, generate hyphens in identifiers, and thus confusing the X file parsers. Also it writes wrong texture references. But there is a workaround. You must remove those hyphens an correct references.

Let me try to explain this one more time.If you download Gmax and use it you are not allowed to use the models in FPSC.
Read the license.Gmax is for evaluation purposes only.It for you to try so you will buy 3DS Max.
If you don't beleve me e-mail Autodesk and ask them if they mind if you use Gmax models in the game you are going to distribute.
anyhow, this is all off-topic anyway. We're supposed to be talking about a sword.

I don't said anything about that. I know that, but my answer was about exporting meshes from Gmax. Personally I don't use Gmax.
