This is a wight which will be part of my horror pack. It will have custom animations. It will not be able to hold weapons, it is a melee character.

I am still thinking about ading a skull to the hud or I may just add glowing eyes.

Thanks Keith, Jon.

I use a capsule to model my heads, I found dragging edges out to be a head ache for me.

Ok, here's a constructive post.

I like the model higgins, the hands are especially cool.

and how did you get the face looking so purdy! Is there any chance you can post a wireframe of it? I'd be interested to see.
Looking forward to the custom animations!

PS (and off topic)

Perhaps it would be best for both of you if badger king just didn't comment on higgins posts? Not that you don't have the right, simply that it would save me (and everyone else) having to read a 6 post slagging match.

i was going t ask for a wirerframe view aswell, it looks nice, certainly does the job, but you may want to work on the polygon loops, around the mouth and eye, but i see they're coming along great

i think, Higgins, you need to realise there will always be some people who misread and/or skip right to the picture, then post comments on what they see instead of read, its annoying, yes, i often become tired of repetition, but theres always some people

Not that the face is bad or anything, but I think it looks creepier without the face at all.

you can hardly give judgement on its "creepyness" right now, you havnt even seen a texture on the face!

Doesn't matter if the face has a texture or not, I think seeing a faceless entity is more creepy. With a face it begins to have a personality and for something like this it would be infinitely more ominous without a face staring you in the eye.

I can easily remove the face for you all if you like, and have two versions. I will also have the textures soon, so keep checking back.

Yes, it does, just go look at some doom 3 models without textures, the whole point of modelling something low poly is to get the structure right, not the overall feel, thats for when its completed

ofcourse if you were going into high res ZBrush style, then that would apply.

Ok, well ive been animating the wight and so far I have 4 sets. Idel, Move, Magic attack and Sword attack. I think I only need to do a death animation now.

Zip attached with the animations in.

higgins dont take this too badly, but you do such great models, but i absoulutely hate your animations, you can animate, but you dont give them enough emotion in the animations...
no offense

Bloodeath, how can I give emotion to a 3d object? I dont really understand why you ask me to add emotion to the animation, you just cant. I can only animate them as they would be.

heres what i mean, you slash a sword at somthing in real life

theres emotion in it, because when you slash it could either kill your///save you

when your wight swings a sword (pokes really) theres no emotion, its like hes just poking you with a sword to annoy you. with your firing bow animation, hes not really acting like its important to fire it, add emotions to make it look like they want/need to do what theyre doing

hope that made more sense, simplified, make the animations more intense i guess you could call it

I agree with Blood. In the sword attack animations he attacks with his left and theres no follow though with the right side of his body...It all remains stiff. Higgins animates with 3smax so I know he's got the tutorial that comes with the software on the 2nd cd about weight. Higgens look at cs4_tut_MoFlow02.max, for the tutorial in volume 2 of the documentation that comes with max.....look how smooth that moves..

thats the "emotion" he was talking about.

Is this guy going to have legs?
If not I think in the animations his bottom half should flap around a little, especially when its moving, have the bottom rotate towards the back.

As for the sword animation, try doing a stabbing motion in the mirror and see what you look like when trying to kill something with a sword. You'll see the body really reacting to your motions. Then try to animate it the way you see it.

Other than that I think it all looks good.
