Well, believe it or not, my uncle calls me at 8 this morning, wakes me up, and tells me to check my email. So i stumble half awake down the stairs and get on the comp, and he sent me this link:

http://www.learnenglish.org.uk/games/magic-gopher-central.swf

And then he goes on to tell me that he wants me to figure out the "mathamatical formula behind it." I'm assuming he means how they figured out which answers are possible; short of going through every possible combination one by one. So besides goign through every combination by hand, how do i figure out the formula, if there is one? I'm tired, and clueless.

After he told me what he wanted, I finally asked him why, and he said he wants me to figure out the formula, maybe apply it to letters (I need help. No clue.) and then create a skeleton application like that for him.

So please, I was wondering if any of you have made soemthing like this before, or know how i would go about solving and making this, and maybe even possibly letting me right out know how its done

hm... weird. It doesn't need any user input. I'm stumped. One thing you should notice is that many symbols occur more than once with different numbers.

EDIT: I cheated using google. Here's how its done:

It's one of many tricks based around the number 9. Once you get to a multiple of 9, there's all sorts of things you can do with guaranteed results. For example, pick any number between 1 and 100,000,000 that is divisible by 9. Now keep adding the individual numbers until you end up with a single digit.

You got 9? Wow, that's amazing.

Take any number between 10 and 100,000,000. Add the single digits together and subtract from the first. Now keep adding the individual numbers until you end up with a single digit.

You got 9? Wow, that's amazing.

Yes I noticed that too...

I also keep comign back to numbers divisble by 9, or im just not randomizing very well...

EDIT: ok and the symbols change to make ti appear as if you keep getting different ones everytime you choose...

EDIT #2: Ok i think i got it, not a formula, just a trick aroudn the number 9 as you said. No matter what you choose ti will either lead you back to a number divisible by nine, to he number 10, or zero. Then they just randomize what symbol will accompany those numbers to make it appear that you get a different symbol everytime.

Accel, they've already solved the method. Its probably just happening like that for you because the majority of the symbols are the same, so chances are your mouse will go over the correct one.

First time I tried the number 44 didn't work. Then I tried 36 it worked. Then I tried 44 again and it worked! Weird but fun!
