No, that is not the case. You just need to give them a different shoot script so that they dont shoot at you.

No, I meant don't give the character a shoot script. Leave the box blank.

u cant get enemy entitys in network play, but in single player you can get players to follow you using the "follow.fpi" file

The issue goes deeper than being able to script the characters to do what you want. It seems that even if you could get the characters to shoot at each other, the hits would not register in the engine.

In messing around with this issue, I have got as far as having one character to follow you around and aim their weapon in the proper direction, even blocking shots from another character. Even when the character is between you and the shooter, it does not take any damage from the shots. The engine, it would seem, is only configured to register shots from and hits on the player. Until the engine is changed, all the scripting in the world won't make it happen.

xplosys,

Is correct.

Its a well know fact that currently NPC's cannot target any other entity specifically.

There awareness is limited to that which is hard coded into the engine.

The issues and there are many are more complex than may at first seem and too complex to debate here.

There are quite a number of changes that would be required to the hard coded stuff in the engine, the source and availability to users of a wider range of script commands and actions before users would be able to accomplish anything like advanced or credible NPC behaviours for use in games - setting up teams or allies and so forth. A targeting and group system would be paramount.

Other issues like AI think time, lagg, pathfinding, collision, physics and object avoidance need improving before one could seriously set up any successful team communications or groups to help the player or have say enemies fight with one another in a free for all or across group battle between friendlies and enemies.

Attempting such is sure to result in failure and even if some of the pre-requisites were missing - one almighty mess.

Users should forget this and await the update unless you have the free time to put into experimentation which might be best spent currently on other areas of your game making endeavours.
