Sorry mate, but that's not a recording studio... I've been in one myself, and a simple recording app <> this:

Bare minimum is $10 000 worth of Pro Tools, a couple thousand worth of monitors, and anywhere between $0-20000 worth of offboard equipment (compressors, delay box, reverb, etc.)

Well, I didn't ask how much all the offboard stuff cost (that pic is actually something off of google) hmm, I think they had about a dozen offboard units, a couple of dat machines, and some old tape recording thing taking up an entire corner.

Thinking about it, they did say they had about a quarter million dollars worth of equipment (all tucked away in this grungy looking nondescript building ). The numbers I posted above is for the bare bones setup, like for a home recording studio.

Haha, same here. Very good reasons too. I love that analog sound, and so do criminals... wouldn't want to advertise that pricey equipment for all to see... lol.

It's just not practical. There is no bin for your crisp packets, no beer fridge, no space for the 8,000,000 wires to all your peripherals and no semi-pornographic posters on the wall. There isn't even a coster for your coffee! That studio is totally impractical!!!

hehe I say if you cant play good music live then you shouldn't be recording.

Van Halen mostly played everything straight up, only doubled in guitar parts when they absolutely had to or liked a harmony.

Tupac also recorded an album of 18 songs or so in 2 weeks because there was no fancy crap to filter through. They gave him a beat and a tempo and he spit rhymes .

Didn't the Beatles record Magical Mystery Tour on a 4 track on their own? I have not been in a Studio for a long time, prior to comps all over just someguy with a big set of headphones and sharpie to mark on masking tape along the board. I still have our songs on a DAT tape (Are those still used) all our copies were on cassette and long since eaten, not that I even have something to listen to cassetes anymore.

Doesn't anyone else find it kind of strange that Tupac not only keeps releasing double-disc sets well after his "death" in 1995 or 1996 (I don't remember exactly when, but I'm sure it was around there), and often his songs contain passages about things that happened after he died? Like, his own funeral, and the death of Biggie Smalls, and even some people have interpreted bits of his lyrics as talking about 9/11, although I'm not sure which ones and I haven't heard them yet. I really wouldn't be surprised if he was hanging out on a beach somewhere getting paychecks from the record company sent to some offshore account. Dave Chappelle made a skit about Tupac in his partial third season (which Comedy Central shouldn't have aired imo, I watched it but only because they were airing it anyway, regardless of the deal Dave Chappelle was screwed out of ). In the skit, Tupac is making references to Howard Dean's "YEEE-HAAAA!", and blackberry, and Carl Johnson... all of which obviously would indicate that Tupac is alive, lol.

Edit: Oh yeah, about the chairs... my chair must be a cheap imposter because it looks almost exactly like those, except it's black, hehe. But I got mine from Staples for $115. I should paint it that color and say it's worth a ton of money lol.

Okay, now I have to find the exact chair that we have--- I am 99% that they cost around $2000, but now I want to know for sure.

The Herman Miller Aeron chair is what we all used to have:

But we recently replaced them--- maybe with a newer model?

It's a dead argument Matt. Ever tried convincing a Tupac fan he's really not dead? They just won't believe.

And yeah, the reference to Biggie's death (Which is supposed to be AFTER Tupac's "death") is abit too obvious yet people still ignore it.

But whatever makes money I guess...

@Jeku: Since you use one, can you tell me what exactly is so amazing (and expensive) about that chair? My standard $170 chair is comfy enough.

Nope, not as much like my chair as I thought. My chair has the mesh back, but the seat is a big cushion (loses comfort after a few hours, but makes me get up and do other stuff lol).

Quote: "Ever tried convincing a Tupac fan he's really not dead? They just won't believe."

I'll never understand it. They want to think Tupac is such a nice guy that he wouldn't go to "great lengths" to fake his own death. Even an FBI agent said, during a CNN interview back when it happened, that Tupac could have very easily faked his own death because of all the fumbles that the Las Vegas investigators made... and it's not like he was a "nice guy," most of his songs were about killing other people lol But eh, what can you do. Someday he'll get stupid and give himself up, lol. Isn't it a federal crime to fake your death? I'd assume it is

Yeah, it's alot easier to talk sh*t about people in your rap, and then once they get pissed off and come after you, you fake your own death instead oh, say, taking responsibility for your words.

Rapping is tricky in the industry. Guys like 50 Cent just absolutly have to let the public know how many "Niggas' they beat down or killed" without actually getting in trouble with the feds. That's why they often fabricate random stories of shooting people in convinience stores so the cops won't have any actual evidence to present.

Hence whoever claims they shot or beat to death the largest amount of imaginary people gets a golden cookie and a new recording-deal.

Cats would never fake their own deaths. Although I *have* seen suicidal cats in the past. You and my mom would get along... she has a dozen cats, no exageration. She rescued one from the tree in her backyard one day, couldn't find the owner, and since then her house has turned into a cat refuge lol. She gives them away for free but it's often hard to find takers for some reason. Best part: I'm allergic to cats, so going their always makes me sneeze a bunch lol.

Elvis and them, that's silly, but there's more proof that Tupac is alive than there is that he's dead lol. Mostly because the Las Vegas police department lost evidence and autopsy photos/ reports, etc. Then he goes and records a new album every year with lyrics about things that happened well after his death, and for all of these reasons, you'll find people like me and Megaton who are pretty sure he faked his death. The odds are stacked up against him, and I think he's a criminal for this and he should be arrested.

So you're saying he sang these songs *after* his death. Or they were on old recordings. John Lennon did "Free as a Bird" in the 90's but he died in 1980. Does that mean he's alive? No.

I don't think you could have missed the point more Jeku. It doesn't matter when he recorded these songs, but what he mentioned in them.

Say if this John Lennon guy made a song in 1980 and it was released in 1990, then it's not big deal. But if he were to die in 1980, yet he would sing about how the Soviet Union collapsed in his song released in 1990, then that would raise a few eyebrows.

All of that is made up ofcourse, I have no clue who John Lennon is, but I am just using it as an example.

But seriously, I have no specifc reason to preach to the world that Tupac is alive. I am just a mild observer who really did notice and think "Uh...why is he rapping about all this stuff that happened after his death? Am I the only one who's hearing this?".

I don't quite think Matt's that stupid, he know's it's a skit. (Erm I hope he does)

Yeah, Chappelle did blow it out of proportion and made it funny, but there's still a layer of truth behind it.

Quote: "Record company executives claimed that these tracks were also recorded years before; yet this is contradicted by the timeliness of the lyrics. Tupac makes references to the film Armageddon in one track and in another he congratulates the Denver Broncos on winning the Super Bowl - both events taking place well after Shakur was supposedly in the grave."

Coincidence. I have a DVD that I bought in 2000 that has an airplane flying into the twin towers in New york--- it's an cheezy animation with crappy 3D. Coincidences like that happen all the time.

What is "all this stuff" that he rapped about that happened after his death? It's only a matter of time before the Soviet Union collapsed--- everyone knew it would happen. Same with North Korea. If a rapper sings about N. Korea collapsing, then he gets shot and 10 years later N. Korea collapses--- so what?

EDIT:

I just don't buy that the *only* logical explanation is he's still alive. Come on, use your brain

There's a line between coincidence, and coincidence happening several times.

Quite hard to "coincidently" predict which of the many teams will win an event, or mentioning products/films/events that have not yet happened or been released.

The Soviet Union thing was obviously an example, Tupac did not mention it. I don't toubt it was predictable.

Alright Megs - If you have time please tell me song names where he predicts things that are just too impossible for him to have been dead. Take as long as you need

I'll do my own lyrics search so I can draw my own conclusions.

I'm not a total skeptic--- after all I fell for the fake Andy Kaufman blog from a few years back

Quote: "I have no clue who John Lennon is, but I am just using it as an example."

Megaton... okay. When you said you didn't know who Richard Pryor was, I took it as "woah, your generation doesn't care about older stuff." But I don't know how to handle you not knowing who John Lennon was. A part of me died when you said that. It really did. I mean, you live in Toronto, "the west," the civilized world. He's in history books and they teach about his work in music classes. They mention him all throughout pop culture as one of the greatest music icons in history. I can't find words that could possibly express my dismay.

Anyway lol, on to the Tupac thing:

Not the best example, because it talks about a lot of stuff that even I'm skeptical of. Friday the 13th is thought to be a bad/ unlucky day because that's the day that the Knight's Templar were wiped out (if you don't know who they are, go crack a book ). It has nothing to do with Tupac's murder. And it's quite common for music videos to be shot 2, 4, 6, even 8 months before a record is released, and I know of at least five videos that have been. But it makes a few valid points, like the cremation thing, and the bulletproof vest, the Machiavelli thing. It also mentions specific lyrics in a Richie Rich/ Tupac duet in which he talks about being murdered... and this was recorded before his death. And the song from the Supercop soundtrack where he says he's an outlaw to the grave with a plan to get richer.

This site is better and puts the theory into a more thought-out, intelligent light. I can't find the stuff about the trade centers though... maybe that was bogus (I heard it from a friend, so who knows). But it seems perfectly logical for him to have faked his own death, in an effort to stave off his "enemies" who had previously tried to kill him, his record producer who had signed him to a bogus deal, and the police who (at the time as I recall) were planning on bringing him to court for some felony or another. Some people don't think he's dead because they don't want him to be dead... I could care less. I do hope though that if he's alive they arrest him on the spot, and they don't just let him walk because the statute of limitations on faking his own death wore out (anyone know how long that lasts?).

The Biggie debate carries no weight. Anyone could have forcasted he was going to die. The guy was so fat he would've died of heart disease if he wasn't glocked to his maker. Tupac is definitely a dead man. I should know, I'm a rapper and I killed him. And I might kill you next. In a convenience store. You be riding the shotgun shell straight to hell, BIATCH! What you gonna do when Fallout coming for you? Ghetto pimp style. Harder and faster than Ron Jeremy. Word mofo. I'm outta here. Peace to ya. RIP Shakur.
