The name should give it away. STRING theory. If you notice, he makes a gap between his fingers (live long and prosper!) for the string to pass through. Kinda obvious, really... And in the bits where he puts a hand above and below it? He's not really! His hands are about 1-2CM behind the string!

Since the other one was scaring you guys so much...

Actually the video is called "Stringless" I see what you mean. His fingers are always open, but look at the 00:45th second. He both hands over and below the card showing that there are no strings attached, though when he left the card spinning alone at 00:35 it looks like it was attached to the ceiling or something. Wierd..

Very clever... Note that he doesn't move his hands around the side - just the top - which makes me think its controlled by string along the side.

All those spinning card tricks are done the same way - usually a piece of very fine line stuck to middle of card with special wax and other end attached to ear. That particular one looks like line is stretched from one end of room to other left to right like Philbert McStinky Stoat says. Just do a search for hummingbird and you will find loads of info about it.

I've been watching Mac Spoofs quite a bit today. Although that video doesn't seem to be working now.

And for those who dont know : Pooky is Garfield's favourite teddy bear. Garfield being a fat, overweight, orange cat - and not a president of the USA.

I found an explanation, is it true?

Quote: "
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO GET NYLON KITE STRING. WHEN YOU HAVE THAT; GET SOME SCOTCH TAPE OR ANY KIND OF CLEAR TAPE. WHEN YOU HAVE DID THAT, GET A PIECE OF PAPER OR DOLLAR BILL, ETC. NOTHING HEAVY THOUGH. NEXT, TAKE THE NYLON STRING AND STRIP THE STRING. WHAT I MEAN IS PULL THREADS OF THE NYLON STRING APART. YOU SHOULD HAVE A HARD-TO-SEE, VERY SMALL THREADS. MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAN SEE THE THREAD, OVER A DARK SURFACE, YOU SHOULD NOW SEE THE SMALL THREAD. TAKE TWO PIECES OF TAPE AND PLACE THE END THREAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PIECE OF TAPE. FOLD THE TAPE, (STICKY-END TO STICKY-END) SO THAT THE STRING TO TIGHTLY SECURED INSIDE THE TAPE. THIS END OF THE THREAD WILL BE PLACED INSIDE OF YOUR MOUTH. BITTING IT WITH YOUR TEETH. TAKE THE OTHER END AND TAPE THE END TO A WALL. NOW, LET THE FOLDED END OF THE TAPE DANGLE ALONG THE WALL. PLACE THE TAPE PIECE BACK IN YOUR MOUTH. DON'T BACK UP, THE THREAD WILL BREAK, AND YOU WILL HAVE TO REPEAT ALL THE STEPS AGAIN. PLACE THE TAPE FAR BACK INSIDE OF YOUR MOUTH, CLENCHING IT WITH YOUR TEETH. MAKING IT LOOK LIKE IT ISN'T EVEN THERE. ALSO MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAN TALK NORMAL. NOW, YOU CAN FOLD, HAND, CRUMPLE-UP ANY DOLLAR, PAPER, ETC. ON THE THREAD LINE. IT LOOKS BETTER IF YOU HANG A DOLLAR OVER THE THREAD, LIKE YOU ARE HANGING OUT CLOTHES ON THE CLOTHES LINE. NOW, YOU SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SEE THE THREAD. NEXT YOU CAN MOVE YOUR HEAD BACK AND FORTH, MAKING THE OBJECT MOVE UP AND DOWN ALONG THE THREAD.

I like the idea of clenching your teeth together and

. You'd look like some psycho on steroids, teeth clenched shut like a rottweiler, trying to have a pleasant conversation about fishing.

sounds right
prolly two blokes holding the horizontal string ends off camera, to allow for that "float left/right" thing he did there a couple of times

Notice how he'd never wait long enough for the card to stop spinning, and always grabbed it as it was slowing down. If he let it stop, it would slow down, stop, then spin the other way, revealing the fact that it's on a string.

I think the thread goes from the roof to the floor - notice how when he passes his hands over and above, the top hand never goes over the top of the card, and if there was some play in the string - then actually passing both hands over and under like that would leave the card floating in place anyway.

cant agree with that, theres at least one time where he makes an enclosed ringwith his arms and hands and passes the the "ring" over and around the card, and moves from extreme right to left but the card never moves. If the string is top to bottom even with a ton of slack, his arm movement would at least make the card rise, and should still cause some left or right movement, even if slightly, which doesnt appear to be the case.
The line being horizontal with maybe a foot or so of vertical string, as depicted in the picture by mm0zct makes way more sense imho

Near the beginning of the vid when the card first motions toward our right, you can see a string connecting it to the roof I believe.

I believe its from the roof to the ground as Van B said, I didnt see it spinning side ways. The way it follows his hand movement is simply because he moves the string by trapping it inbetween his fingers. Look at the comments people gave him, he must feel luck .

Keep talk'in
