Ok, you guys might know this but, hell i'll post this anyways. this could be for newbies. Nor that I'm a pro mind u. I just found something that "could" be useful if u didn't know it. Ok, anyone whose used 3dsmax will know that you can choose between generic units or us standard feet/inches. for awhile i didn't understand the generic units so i used feet but i figured out that generic units are the "inches" of the units. I don't make much sense so i'll show you.

12.0 generic unit = 1"
and so on.

so this could be applied to Dark Basic also since it uses generic units to position objects and stuff. I'm not sure. I think you can. post ur comments and flames as to how useless this post is.

nice theory, but unfortunately, 1 unit is 1 unit... this is universal across every modeller and renderer. exactly as you've said - but...

For the game I'm writing, 12 units is definately not 1 inch, I work to 1 unit = 22 cm (at the moment), so 12 units would be 2.64 metres... What 1 unit equates to is entirely down to the programmer. But if you model everything you make to that scale, then your game will be 12 units to 1 inch. and if you model everything to a different scale, well, 12 nits won't be 1 inch... So really, that would be nothing more than a suggested scale

Even so, that means their scale is 1 unit to 1 inch, which still may not always be the case for every 3D program... like my example.

(PS - you should know better than to double post by now )
