I dont think we are supposed to talk about ROM's or emulators...

Why does everyone want to make games for console? I like PC just fine.

if he owns the game, I do believe he is allowed to create the roms. Same way with Amiga emulators, as long as you own a legitimate copy of the kickstart (workbench).

Not a clue where to get a PS rom creator.

As far as I'm aware, emulation isn't illegal.

He's not talking about ROMs or piracy - just asking how to develop homebrew games.

I'm not aware of any software to make PS1 games (only graphical demos, basically cubes spinning around ect, nothing big).

However, Sony did release a package called Net Yaroze, which allowed you to build your own PS1 games, but was very limited.

The PS1 is out of date, It's old, if anything like that was made it would probably be for the PS3, like what Microsoft did for the Xbox 360, of course you coudldn't actually put the game in any old 360.

Cocacola and Pepsi aren't that differnt. Deal with it.

Probably--- but to me that's cheap to play potentially hundreds of free games. A lot of them will be crap, mind you, but some of them will be destined for greatness.

Unless it has changed within the last 3 years since I've checked, its legal own a emulator, if the emulator requires a bios, you must have a the console, initially you had to take the bios with some techy crap, but now they're availible, as you have a working emulator for the PS, I assume you do have the bios (legally I hope) for the roms its legal to own one that you don't have for 24 hours, after that you need to remove it, if you own the game, you're ahead to go a play it when you like.

As for homebrew, check out some emulation forums, some will offer usefull plugins, like one for the Nintendo 64 emulators that dumps all of the game textures into a folder and can load custom ones into it. I've had Zelda Ocarina of Time running with Wind Waker style hi-res textures.

I dunno, but from the look of things over at the Torque website, Microsoft have been developing something for Windows and 360, as the torque dudes seem to be releasing a version for that something, and seem to be promising 360 development, this time with out talking about one of those development kits.

No, for crying out loud, that is a MYTH. How many times must this be said--- that is not law. Show me where it says you can have something for 24 hours without pay--- which means you must have copied it to get it, and the copying is illegal in the first place.

Fair enough, must of missed that bit. But I just read that is all, but not on some official laws website, so it would be just based on that Myth.

it is the ammount of time roughly that you could get away with "not knowing" if you had the file for quite a long time then you could be sued etc but 24 hours you could have "not had the time to get rid of it"

Scorched Skies is waiting, can you help

"Sorry officer. I only deliberately downloaded those naked pictures of Whoopi Goldberg 24 hours ago. I didn't have time to delete them".
I don't think it would hold up in court.

(Sorry. Went off on a rather sick tangent there )
