I'm sure many of you have completed the years exam and should be getting the results now. Well I've got mine.

AS Level (1st half A-level)-

RS/Philosophy of Ethics- Overal Mark (B)
Foundation Paper - (C)
Paper 1 - (A)
Paper 2 - (A)

English Literature - Overall mark (E)
Paper 1 - (E)
Paper 2 - (E)
Paper 3 - (D)

English Language - Overall Mark (C)
Paper 1 - (D)
Paper 2 - (C)
Coursework - (C)

Psychology - Overall Mark (D)
Paper 1 - (B)
Paper 2 - (C)
Paper 3 - (E)

I think I got the E in Psychology because of Research Methods, which is proberly the hardest thing in Psychology, and someone as crap as me at maths suffers for it.

For English Literature, I am going to retake, I don't have a clue what went wrong there, but it doesn't help having the exams so crammed together, Eng Lit/Lang and Psy were all within 4 days, and on each day were crammed together, so 3 hours Lang, then 2 hours psy then 3 hours Lit. But it is still strange as I revised most for lit. I think I should have quit psychology when I wanted to, I found it a struggle with it on my back, but my teacher is too manipulative, she used her psychology crap to get me to stay, well I have quit it for my A2's I had no choice.

Otherwise I am pretty happy, considering most people in my year did quite crap.

A-Levels seem easy, but the good grades are hard, I put a lot into my AS level and it shows I needed a whole lot more, I mean I skipped Karate lessons, skipped out on doing Ronin (which is a black hole now) so I could study, but I get an E in Lit, which is annoying as I did study hard for that, but then we did very little on exams and exam technique in it and we just studied the texts, which sometimes isn't enough. (Plus our closed text was Emma by Jane Austen, one of the dryest and boring novels to read, but loved by women and feminists)

But at least I'm happy with the rest and got a pat on the back.

The 'AS/A2 results' topic on this very board might be of interest...

Except you don't have much pressure at all - I now know the marks universities are going to see when I apply!

Well I was thinking that, but I know there are other exams running, so I thought I'd leave it open to all exams, instead of someone starting seperate threads.

Ditto, I really want to get between 200 and 300 points overall, most places for my course require 180 points, but you get places like the university of east anglia asking for 2 A's and a B, I'll apply there, as it is best (according to someone) to apply higher than what you expect in case you do get really good results, a place that you think you fit in with what you think you should be getting and one incase you don't do so well.

but luckily, I've got anyother year to correct my wrongs and as I've dropped psychology I have more time to do so.

Anyway, David, enlighten us on your results.

What the hell? How much did you study? I studied loads for my AS's. You must be like my friend Nick, but a hardcore studier at the same time, either that or your teachers are much better than ours.

Well done mate, hope you get into Cambridge, I'd be suprised if you didn't.

Not a lot. Well, of course a lot but not out of the ordinary. I could have done more - I just couldn't apply myself for long periods. I could have done better in Chemistry but overall I think it went pretty well.

Isn't that always the case, I had a hard time writing mine for when I was applying for cambridge colleges, my parents said I should include that I have been inspired by the works of George Orwell, but at the time I had only seen the two movies, guess what one of the questions was in the interview, what did I think about how 1984 does such and such, I gave an okay answer, he like my answer on philosophy, but that was about it. But in the end it was better I got rejected by them.

Cheers.

I see, I think it is really down to how you study and not the hours, I did come up with a good method for English language, it helped me remember the names of people, like Peter Trudgill, Howard Giles etc. Worked like a charm, see
