Hi all,

Retro Remakes latest compo is drawing to a close, in fact we only have this week, the weekend, and monday to finalise everything!. I hate deadline week, but I finally broke into the home straight yesterday (finished all the level design and media, just to stitch things together now).

So who's in?, and what are you entering?

I'm entering a Ghostbusters remake, like half-a-dozen other people no doubt.

This is the first time I heard of it or I would have put together something. Oh well... too late now.

I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do. ~Hal-9000

I'm too busy with my game - want to get most of it done by the Convention...

Come to the last Unofficial DBPro Convention (http://convention.logicstudios.net/)

I am entering a Berzerk remake. There I was, trundling along thinking there was tonnes of time and then last week realised the deadline was approaching. I should have it finished in a few days although probably not as polished as I would have hoped.
There are 5 GhostBusters remakes and a GhostBuster II, if they all finish them in time (only one has so far). I never realised it was such a popular game.

Your not gonna send me out there on my own are you?!

If I'm the only DBPro entry and I do badly, then on YOUR heads be it!

Cool Binary, g'luck!

3 of the judges listed Ghostbusters as one of their most wanted remakes. I've seen the finished entry, and it looks really good - my hope is that it's a straight out port with better graphics, mines is a fairly different approach, concentrating on that actual gameplay dynamics and trying to illustrate them.

Good luck to you too Van. You approach sounds interesting - I can't wait.

I have tried to keep the excellent (and rather frantic) gameplay and key features of Berzerk but improve on the graphics (now 3D) and sound. I have incorporated most of the elements of both the arcade version and the Atari 2600 versions but hopefully made it more accessible. With any luck beginners can enjoy it just as much as the hard core 'blastfest' lovers. We shall see.

Van I don't think you're alone, I saw an entry by Mike Inel, if you're lucky its the same guy who is on and off of this forum.

I would have entered sooner if I knew, but I am working on a game...that would qualify as a retro remake, but I won't finish in time.

I was in and very into it doing a remake of Mail Order Monsters. After I got a C&D from EA, I pulled back and was making an attempt at Temple of Apshai, but I had alot of passion for MOM and had put in alot of work and it killed my next attempt. I got into the mood of "What if I pour a ton of work into this and this one gets a C&D too." Hence I have since canned my project, not like it was drawing alot of interest anyways. So I am working heavily on my own game.
