Hello all,

yes, this is my first post here. Its been just 4 days since I have started using FPS creator.

Right now I am making a training level for a game and that requires lots of text messages popping up teaching the player some moves.

I used the texthud scripts which is available in many posts in this forum.

Now, my training required different messages to popup when the player is in certain zones (using trigger zone)
So I have made 5 different image files and 5 different .fpi files.
Problem is, all the messages pop up at the start of the game
They fade away when I finally enter the zone and leave it again...but in the beginning, I see all 5 images overlapping each other.

What am I doing wrong here? Please help.

I have attached one of the .fpi files as an example. (this file is supposed to pop up the message.png when the player enters one of the trigger zones)

Thank you very much,

filya

er...silent thunder. I think you misunderstood me.

I said I already have that script, and I did use it after modifying it to my needs.
but now for some reason all the different HUDs are displayed at the same time (one on top of another)

they are supposed to be displayed at different trigger zones ...but some thing is not right.

ty for ur help tho

filya, I'm no scripting expert, but the first thing that struck me was that your modified version of the text HUD script doesn't actually include the 'plrwithinzone' condition - which is kind of essential if you're attaching the script to a trigger zone. Without it, FPSC won't wait for you to enter the trigger zone, it'll just displays the HUD message.

thank you Graham.

well that cud be good reason for the images being displayed all at once instead of only when the player is in a specific trigger zone.

but this same script has been offered for so many people here who had the "Test in HUD" problem.

Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong or maybe modify the script for me?

thank you

ya it does work fine for 1 trigger point and 1 HUD.

but since I want to keep different HUDs at different trigger points, things get messed up.

I get all the HUDs displayed when I enter the first trigger point
and then as I keep moving away from each trigger zone, the HUDs vanish one by one.

alright. I got it this time.

the fpi files for the hud display needed a bit of modification.
basically, it needed a
'hudhide=1' before the 'hudmake=display'

(lol..saw the doorkey file to figure it out )

anyways, it works now.

tyvm all of u.
