Cutscenes don't do it for me. Sure, the graphics are good and all that, but I hate how Sony has 99% of the time shown us these static scenes and not gameplay. Hiding something?

Do some of his moves involve pulling out a pen and signing a nearby glowing contract, binding him to appear in every single Nintendo game for the next 15 years?

It depends on whether the cutscenes contribute to the story or not. MGS4 does look cool, but I can't remember seeing any gameplay in the trailer, so it's either not very memorable or, as you say, they've been spending way too much time on the cutscenes.

It's not actually sonys fault if all they show is cutscenes. It's up to the game creators to actually give the revolutionary game play, not the creators of the console (as far as I'm aware).

I'm hyped about FFXIII anyway, so I'll defintely get a PS3. Seeing as MGS4 will be the only other (hopefully) decent game on it, I'll have to buy it so I don't feel ripped off buying a console for a single game.

As long as they have a boss fight as cool as The Sorrow I might consider it. I'll wait for a PS3 price drop and the reviews. Love MGS 1 & 3, but I'm not going to buy a PS3 right off the bat just for MGS.

Hahaha, now I know why you used to not like the PSP.

[SOMEWHAT OFFTOPIC]Haven't you noticed though, in the game Kingdom Hearts 2, half the time you're watching a cutscene. I mean, people claim it took them 30-40 hours to beat the game, when 10 of those hours are watching videos. Plus the gameplay is repetive

All in all, I really liked the Metal Gear series, it's pretty neat, and I love the Stealth of it, much like the Splinter Cell Series.

I *still* don't like the PSP, as in my opinion it's just a PS2 Lite i.e. same games, but scaled down.

The PSP needs more original games like Lumines, but soon Lumines is coming to the 360 Live Arcade.

I don't like that they've made Snake "The End's" age, lol. For half of his kung fu moves he'll need to pop some viagra, then roll around in a wheel chair until he gets enough energy up to poop his pants. No one wants to see an old Snake, or at least no one I know does. I hope to god they aren't going to get rid of Snake and replace him with that punk Raiden for good. I don't care if he's wearing Grey's suit... he could be in a friggin' Metal Gear for all I care, he RUINED MGS2, no question about it. But Otacon is a little robot now, that seems wicked cool

It's Hideo Kojima, of COURSE he's hiding something! That's what he does best, lol. If anything, I'm willing to bet Sony is ticked off that Hideo won't allow them to use MGS4's gameplay videos, but eh, I don't need to see them to be impressed, I already am. I trust Hideo Kojima and I've yet to see someone else incorporate the same caliber of style into games that he has... he's a genius, imo, and that's more than enough for me to say "yes, gimme gimme gimme!"

It won't be on any other consoles other than the PS3, so if you can't get it there, you can't get it period Except the substance games, which seem fun, but aren't remotely the real thing. Just wait until the price drops... it won't take that long

$600 isn't even the most expensive verision of the PS3, and the higher versions retail price is upto the store who sells it. If the price was going to drop it wouldn't be national, in fact I bet those stores that sell only electronics will milk it untill Sony itself will declare an official price.

Cocacola and Pepsi aren't that differnt. Deal with it.

His name is Suda 51. It's called Killer 7. Oh and there's a little game from Clover Studio called Okami.

And yeah, those are in-game from TGS.

No, his name is Goichi Suda. That's like saying your name is Anime Blood. If it is, your parents rule, but I'm willing to bet it's something a little bit more mundane

There's a MASSIVE difference between the principal design elements of Hideo Kojima and Goichi Suda/ Suda 51 if you like screen names. Kojima leans more toward cinema-style directing and complex story development, whereas Suda tends to use incredible audio and video to captivate the audience moreso than the story itself (I AM NOT saying his stories suck in any way, shape, or form, I'm just saying that he focuses more heavily on the game's asset implementation). While they both take influence from Eric Chahi, they do it in different ways, and their methodologies for game design are unsimilar in almost every way. Kojima tends to sit back and let hordes of Konami employees do most of the legwork so he can focus on the story and camera layouts; Suda prefers small teams and works very closely with various stages of development, especially with art. Kojima is a Sony loyalist, Suda is a Wii loyalist, while both will be working on both systems and pretty much refuse to work on the 360. Then there's game design itself... I shouldn't have to draw a road map for that one lol, the difference are more than obvious. But I can kind of see where you think they're similiar, they both make games more as things to interact with than things to play. You don't really "play" MGS or Killer7, you sort of "interact" with them, if that makes sense, and in that I can agree (there's Eric Chahi's influence poking its nose in).

PS3 isn't coming out here for a long time so meh. Im sure you can tell us what the game play is actually like when its released in the US and Japan. Would be funny if it was exactly the same as the old nes versions with funky new cinematics

The price for the ps3 is more for the blue ray player than anything, it is £400 cheaper than the current players, but by the time the thing is released here blue ray players will be selling from bargain buckets for under £10.

The way the games are going now I barely want to touch any ever again. The price increases by £20 and the game play quality drops far below rubbish standards. But i'l buy the ps3 for the player and to play some of my favorite ps2 games, if it lasts more than 6 months without blowing up and if blueray doesn't go down the toilet.
