I would like to announce that I'm officially going to bring AIM down! No, I'm joking. But I am going to make a program that does chat. I'm calling it UChat, I know, stupid name, but it was all I could think of. The concept is that users can join chat rooms using a browser I am making called ULink. ULink brings up a list of what I called ULink Stations. Within each station, there can be up to 20 customized chat rooms created by users themselves. You can choose options like changing the color of the text that is displayed, you can change the background color, basic stuff like that. There are 30 ULink stations. The last four are for a feature I call UChat ID servers. These are for private chat rooms that require an ID code generated by the creator, allowing only those that are told the code to get in and talk. Each ULink can hold up to 20 chat servers. That's why there are so many ULink Stations. I know that DBPro would be better for this kind of application, but I can't afford it. Does anyone have suggestions to add to this concept? Oh, another thing. If someone has a code that allows username and password creation and then they can use that over and over when they want to login. Anyone? Come on, you know you have codes for me! Please...don't make me beg. I hate begging! JK I'm cool...I think. LOL.

Excellent.

And you've written how much code so far...?

No offence, but search the forum. Lots of people have said they're going to make a chat program, and they've invariably ended up creating results that are a bit crap. The ones who finished the project, that is.

If you have stuff done and ready, great! If you don't, I recommend you start work before you announce that you've already beaten every single one of the major IM clients.

And as for the request for teh codez; Expect Zenicanin quotes from all directions. Muahahaha!

Naturally, if you need any guidance for how to debug your code or brainstorming for prototypes of specific parts of the chat protocol in question (by the lengthy paragraph you have written above, that I assume means you've already planned everything including the protocol), the DarkBASIC community will be glad to help or hinder, depending on the size of the bribes.

Have fun! Make it awesome. ^^

I will save you the flames. But even when people will try to help, you won't get much response.

In my time here on the forums, I have only seen 1 guy posting a thread about net commands in DBC. And that is TDK. His thread is in the newcomers corner.

Well.... that didn't sound all that serious
Anyways, I've been thinking about doing something like that also, and I don't know about you, but I think that I've got the basic stuff (knowledge, some server space and some usefull plugins ;p) to actually pull it off.
Perhaps I could join you on this one, given then, of course, that you're serious about it?
You could reach me at [email protected] in such an event.

Det är väl så

Nevermind then. I lack exp anyway and this was just a good concept, and I have no code yet. Could someone still post a code for username creation though? I need it even though I am not making UChat. Sorry for making you guys read such a long post earlier. LOL.

That's a neat picture Captain.

I was working on adding AIM support to DBP, but for some reason I couldn't get the connection authorized. Not sure if the DLL was sending data differently that I was expecting or what. I might try this again though.

Hey, why is this topic still active? I dropped the idea okay? No more talking. JK, it doesn't matter, I sparked some interesting talk on the forums, yay. Still, this project is dead...for now.
