I've decided to change the name from Duel to Humans On A Planet - 'cos, it sounds better...

Here's a screenie of the new title screen :

I think you shouldn't show the scores in the main menu
But I like games with funny titles.

The film or the game ? If your talking about the film, its about snakes on a plane. However, if your talking about my game, its about humans on a planet.

Quote: "I think you shouldn't show the scores in the main menu"

Its to save having to do a hiscore table - which wouldn't have been easy to access.

Oh yes, its such a simplistic self-describing name, it was worth parodying

Here's an updated - most of the game is now complete. Just need to finish the title options, game over screen and add some music to the intro text. Plus tiding up the code, and adding a few sky SFX

P2 controls are working, but at the moment P2's cursor moves slowly.

Its now a self-extracting and running program (it puts an icon on your desktop just before running the game for the first time).

Forgot to mention it currently starts on Day 10.

Would you mind putting it in an extremly compressed archive of .zip, .rar, or .7z? 25MB is much to big for us 56k users. (we have trouble with 3MB).

Or in a bunch of seperate archives?

It looks good tho. And its already nearly finished? Keep up the good work!

What DLL does it say its missing ? Sounds like you dont have MFC80 installed.

Quote: "Or in a bunch of seperate archives?"

I'll put it into seperate archives. Its availiable from http://www.nicholaskingsley.co.uk/MiscThings/HumansOnAPlanetSplitFiles as 14 split RAR files.

Update time :

Menus should now be working - with the exception of selecting a joystick. Changing graphics mode currently requires you to exit and reload the program, but I would like to get any mode changes dealt with automatically.
Vertical & horizontal split screen works.

Changing music volume works - but currently the SFX volume doesn't.

Now, the main part.

You'll now start on Day 1 (which is how it should be). You will notice that under the status text are two values. What I haven't told anyone before (possibly) is that you should be seeing an alpha-blending shield a short way away. Unfortunately, due to a little faux pas in the GSDK, you cant see anything. Which leads me too :

You will notice ground-based baddies will suddenly disapear and the first status value will decrease. This is the shield value, and will very slowly recharge itself.

Unfortunately, its solar powered, so will only work during the day. This also means that its power is depleted during the night...
One thing I will be adding is that the shield power level will fluctuate during storms...

Another important note :

I believe that games should be multi-tasking friendly, with the needs of Vista pushing this idea along (if I remember rightly FSEX games will crash in that OS - hence the reason its in a window), there are two ways to pause the game : Press Pause/Break or deactivate the game window in some way (pressing ALT+TAB or clicking on a task bar icon for example) will pause the game, ready for you to press Pause/Break to continue.

Enemys are set to only appear if there isn't one already...
