How come most online stores reject visa electron, what is wrong with ordering some thing with it? Ive just tried to buy some thing from turbo squid and I cant, because they dont like electron cards, so it sucks.

Why do you all think the card is not accepted, what is so different from the normal visa?

I've got one and haven't found a place where I can't purchase with it yet. There was one site that said it didn't support it, but I just put it down as a Visa and it worked fine .

Most online stores don't reject it, infact, most online stores allow it. It seems to be the international companies that turn their nose up at it.

I emailed turbo squid and they must have just done some thing to accept it. So I just bought what I wanted.

Oh, but argos doesnt accept it, it used to, but when I wanted to buy some thing after my first purchase, I was told electron was not accepted by email, by one of their staff.

Generally, in the UK it isn't that widely accepted - I presume its because its regarded as a debit card.

That's not the case. My Via Debit Card is accepted all over the place. Visa Elecron and Switch Solo are different to their full-fledged counter-parts, and should be considered as a cut down version.

Electron/Solo cards are issued to under 18s who might not necessarily have a high level of income. I seem to recall that during a payment transaction, it checks to see if the account has the funds available - if not, the transaction is declined. With a normal Visa Debit Card, the transaction is usually honoured, even going into an overdraft if necessary.

Long story short - Holders of Electron cards are less likely to have a lot of cash on them, therefore it's not worth the (extra) cost to the retailer of supporting that card.

I know the card is accepted in most places, but Ive found some dont. Ive even had some places take money I never had, so I ended up with a negative number in my account.

Some sites that don't show they accept electron, really do. Like Garagegames and I think Daz 3D (can't remember if it was my Dad's Mastercard that worked or his Electron)

But mostly its down to because electron is a debit card, not a credit card.

Hmm - According to what I've read that shouldn't be possible. The "selling point" of the electron is that going into an overdraft isn't possible. If what you say is true, then I guess what I read was full of crap.

It went over about £1.00, it wasnt much, but it still went over. It may be because some companies will accept any card and try to take money you dont have.
