Hi.

After some furniture and stuff im starting to get insane and tried myself on a rat. Heres the first look at the work and it would be nice if you have some suggentions for me.
1. The first screen is about 636 polys the second about 2560 - is that too much?
2. Is there any need for an rat enemy, or has there been already released one?
3. any suggetions to make the model better?
4. is there any anim8or tut in the net or on board and can you link it?

thanks in advance

torti

That's pretty good; are you going to animate it?

I try to. Never animated anything and i hope i get it with anim8or.
Does not make much sense, if it is not animated, or?

torti,

Greetings. Nice looking rat.

Per your request regarding improvements to the model, I'd have to say that overall it looks quite good.

You should try to work on the snout, and feet. A reference photo might prove useful here.

The feet are currently too pointy. Something more spade-like with texture detail would be much better.

The pink cone of the snout seems too large, and the absence of nose detail is noticeable. Try to get that cone smaller, and add detail to the nose, and I think you'll have a winner!

I think it's a really fine model, and would make a great addition to FSCS' lineup of baddies. Keep up the good work.

Thanks,

Seth Black

Hello torti,

Well the rat is pretty good looking, however, the first and second screen look pretty much exactly the same; so I would recommend working with the smaller poly counted one. Unless of course the second one is a triangulated one, then you can't help that, but for the size of the character, you should try to reduce that number.

I also agree with Seth, the feet and snout seem some work; besides that, it's looking good!

Thanks for the advice.
I will change feet and snout and i think i will open the mouth, so you can see the teeth, looks cooler for an enemy.
Then i try to animate it. Does someone know the best (and easiest) way/prog. to do that. I created the rat in wings and downloaded anim8or.
thanks @all

Hello torti,

The latest version of the rat looks really good, the feet and head look alot better. Good job. As per your question regarding animation, I myself cannot recommend any good programs as I use Lightwave for modelling. However I think some of the free modelling programs out there have animation capabilities, but I am not sure. I am sure someone else will be able to recommend you to a program, or you can search for one.

Good luck, and great job.

Torti, try to make the ears less pointy and angle them slightly backwards
