Is it possible to press Tab and it will display a hud on the screen?

there is already a hud on the screen. What do you mean?

BTW, without a source update, the only key that can be linked to a command is "use" or enter.

What The Programmer is asking is whether you can have the HUD only displayed while you hold down Tab.

However, Butters is right. That said, an update is already in (public) beta that has Keymapping--you'll see it in the Showcase board, it is being developed by Empty and will contain a bucket load of useful additions.

Toggleable Huds assigned to keys would be cool

i also have another quistion. i cant seem to make any black huds tranzparent. for a second i thougt it was my graphics card, but then i realized, that i can make some thing like cross hairs and models transparent, but not game huds. wierd .

does anybody have an answer to this?
