I'm trying to learn Master's Apprentice by Opeth, I am using Power tab to help. I've gotten to the 1st Solo (actually I am at the interlude, but I've tried the 1st Solo) I wanting to know how to do this;

As you will notice, there are 31st and 26th frets, the standard guitar has 22 1/2 frets, 31st being on the highest string, so using other strings to make the same note is pretty much not doable. But what you suggest? I miss out the note, find another note that sounds the same, but lower in pitch...Or buy a guitar with 31 frets? I know the tab is right as well, because I listen closely to the song and played the tab in power tab.

Here's the power tab file for those who have it (Download);

I think it's impossible unless you do a harmonic or get a 31 fret gutar. I'm not a guitarist though so there may be other ways I don't know about.

IceBound Melodic rock/metal band with loads of lead guitar, clean female vocals, and more guitars! What more could you want?

It's a harmonic. A bit rushed right now so I can't tell you which one, but its definitely a harmonic.

I might think it was a harmonic if not for the bend in the note and the way it was tabbed noting a change in the tuning pitch. They do make 33 fret guitars also, schecter was the last one I saw it had a massive scallop in the body to reach those frets. I believe it was Lane Poor who made a 36 fret also, but seeing that those are all custom makes its unlikely that is what was being used.

Meh! I'm pretty much self taught minus the first few lessons, soooo...I never got to harmonics, but I'll look up how I can do 31st fret in harmonics .

its a false harmonic on 26 high E which will yield a note 5 frets higher (cycle of 5ths) 26+5=31

iirc

The only way I'd buy a 31 fret guitar if it were a Parker or a Gibson SG, as I am stuck between those 2 for my next guitar

Cheers CR, I'll try that, first I'll learn all of the 5 minutes before the solo Tis a long song.

24 on mine.

I've seen guitars as high as 38.

The next guitar I want is an acoustic, Larivee.

cool, I want an acoustic as well, meaning I can do the acoustic bit of the song above also I thought an acoustic would sound cool in the interlude of the song I've written, or in the song I'm writing.

My acoustic is a 64 Epiphone Texan and I love it, not that I play much at all anymore but when I do this is what I pick up.
