Here is a pole, staff whatever you choose to call it.
Don't like shooting people?
Then how about some blunt force truma?
Unzip this folder and place iit into your gamecoreguns folder.
Then just right click on the Player Start marker and choose "pole".
I have not made a weapon pickup for this (it doesn't use ammo) but you can make one yourself with TGC's free entity maker.
Edit:I forgot to mention that is has an attack animation when you press the fire button.

I tried it and i liked it! The only minus is that because the texture is twisted it looks more like a stiff piece of rope instead of a wooden pole. This is just some constructive critisism but if you would want to, i am more than willing to make you a new woodtexture.

Here is a bloody metal texture for it. It makes it look like you have already busted many heads. I hope you don't mind me posting it here, Fred.

Thanks a lot Fred!
I also like the extra textures that brummel and Luke have made.

So, for all of you, what are the restrictions...if any?

I used to have one of those signs, but then realized how annoying it was...

The license is in the folder.
Do not sell.
Other than that you can do what you want with it.
I didn not make the retextures so you will have to check with the makers of those about their licenses.

Oh yeah! This is what I wanted. Long distance is the next best thing to being there, but sometimes it's nice to get up close and personal.

Nice job. Thank you.

Open up the gunspec file and specify the new texture in place of the old one.

Nope.Won't work. That works for an entity but it won't work for a weapon because weapons don't have .fpe files.
You have to specify the texture in the pole's gunspec file.

Nice pole fred that just gave me an idea do you think you could actually make an enemies head explode into pieces that would be cool.
But anyway nice pole.

Well, just in case, you place the folder in the gamecore\guns folder.
When you are making your game you place a Player Start marker and right click on it and select the pole as your weapon.

Fred....wat about if I dont want to equip it initially...but rather have my player find it and then use it?

I tried doing that. I made a bmp file and placed it in the entitybank. But I dont have the .x file for it

any ideas?

uh, you can try using the vweap.x and using it in tandem with the entity maker, that may work, i don't know i didn't try it yet.

If i do, i will post it here, with Fred's permission of course.

Get the free entity maker from the FPSC downloads page and watch the video tutorial.
Then you will be able to make a pole that you can pick up like any other weapon.

Two Questions:

Is there a way to make it so that it doesn't leave bullet hole marks?

Also, how can you make the pole's swinging action appear faster, for more realistic attacks using it?

In answer to your first question I don't believe so.But to leave a bullet hole you have to be right next to something to leave one.

In answer to your second question at this point I can't speed up the swing of the pole without completely reanimating it.

It would be just as easy to make another weapon.

nice work on the pole FredP
what program did you use to animate it?
i had a shot at making my own but it didn't show up on screen. I was basically hitting enemies with an invisible weapon.

I made and animated it with Milkshape 3D.
You don't have any idea how many times I tried to make weapons that didn't show up on the screen...lol.

i'm using gameSpace Light 1.5. The program is pretty good for n00bs like myself.
I'll give this a few more tries...hopefully will get there eventually.
After you've exported the .X file, are you suppose to copy and paste it and rename it to VWEAP.X and HUD.X?

i've just tried making a pole another 8 times and can't seem to get it to appear on the screen.
Fred, did you make/animate the pole under the perspective view? or over it? towards the left of it? right of it? etc etc...

i forgot to post this and i've now tried it another 10 times and still can't find the right place to position/animate it.
Serious props to you man for making the pole...i bet you find it easy but this n00b finds it real hard! lol

You might check out WCS EA and Weapon Creator to import your weapons into FPSC.
I can import my weapons without them but it would be a pain.
You might also check out the tutorials on making weapons.
I am sure there are one or two around.
If your weapons don't appear you can also adjust the position of your weapon in the gunspec file.
