Hi all,

Issue 44 of the TGC Newsletter is out.

This is one of the largest issues ever released. Apologies to those of you on modems, there are a lot of graphics in here! But we've got some monster content to make it worth-while, including:

TGC Programming Competition 2006
PhysX Card Promotion
FPS Creator Model Packs 3 and 4
Styx for DBPro
Dark AI Updates
Tutorial: Bendy Bonds
Tutorial: Lightmapping with Dark Lights
Tutorial: Speed up your physics

Read it on-line here. If you've got competition related questions, please post them in the Dark Physics board (I'll make a thread for them now).

Cheers,

Rich

It's a fair price for it if you don't have "normal" GDK yet... but I need to ask, will current Dark GDK users get a (hefty) discount when they get the "sibling" product?

Let's hope so...

No idea, it hasn't been discussed yet. Given the work that Paul has put into it I wouldn't hold your breath, but we can discuss next week.

I write the newsletters - other than articles written by specific people like Grant, Steve and Kevin.. although it has to be said other than Steve I often spend ages needing to spell check and proof read their stuff! Great coders they may be, but I swear they failed English class sometimes (and I'm sure I miss loads of their mistakes too)

I do all the graphics you see in the newsletter, including the covers for the most part. If I'm running really low on time I'll buy a cool piece of stock art from iStockPhoto, Dreamstime or Renderosity to use as backgrounds. This month for example was an illustration from Dreamstime, tweaked for the newsie. All graphical headers, screen grabs, etc (and most other covers) I design myself. Simon hasn't done any cover art for nearly a year I don't think.

We're coming up to the 48th issue, which may not sound particularly special, but it signifies 4 *years* worth of newsletter work from me. When I look back over all the back issues that is hell of a lot, and it's amazing how TGC has changed during that time.

@Richard Davey: Can you put in a word for us DGDK users and ask Lee that the full featured 6.2b version of the GDK gets released with the next newsletter? I really need shader/GPU shadows... Thanks.
