2d is a natural progression to 3d but 3d has more features than 2d does at the moment in time.

3d can be used to mimic 2d also using 3d plains.

wrapping your head around 2dimensions is easier then 3d in some regards.

You have to decide that for yourself. First you have to draw the 2d or 3d object. There r good programs to draw 2d. And good programs for drawing 3d. You also have to learn them to use. And thats sometimes hard. Most give up real easy. (Like me). For me 2d is the best (i suck at 3d). I think it's best to use 3d because it is more advanced. Like indi sayed. But it's harder. There r some good Plug-ins for 3dsMax. But they r expensive. (and 3dsmax is expensive 2). For 2d i use Photoshop it's actully easy (if you know what you have to do). This program has many filters. Wich can be use for varous effects. It also depends on what you want to draw. Hope you can make a choise now.

I find 3D space a lot easier to work with. Although, to be honest, I haven't touched a 2D command since TGF, so I don't know how easy DB's 2D commands are to work with.

I lept straight into 3D because it seemed so much more powerful, even for creating 2D effects.

I'd say 2d is much easier than 3D.

The coordinates are much easier to work out and control.

3d is just to complicated, wrapvalues and newvalues, I don't have a clue.

I went straight into 3D and haven't regretted it. 3D is probably more work but ultimately more rewarding, IMHO.

i went straight into 3d and i find it alot more useful and easier to work with also i have found very little 2d tutorials anywhere(Perhaps something for someone to work on??) but 3d tutorials come by the second look at binary moons tutorials.

ps by 2d tutorials i dont mean drawing a box but things like tiling etc.
