My system 32 folder is hidden and refuses to become unhidden. Windows can't update, and certain programs are having difficulty running (like Bryce, which says there's a missing dll, as some of you may know from the bryce/ poser thread... it's there, in System 32, and Bryce can't see it). I had this problem before, but Trendware Micro solved it... this time, nothing. Has anyone else had a problem similar to this? How do you permanently un-hide System 32? I did a web search and another forum suggested to someone else that they should delete regedit.com, restart their computer, and presto, all will be well... but that seems pretty suicidal to me. Any ideas?

Maybe you are missing a System32. I think there's an XP re-install option that replaces everything windows-related and nothing else. I could be wrong, though.

Since the other one was scaring you guys so much...

System 32 is there... if I show hidden files, I can locate it. But I need to make it permanently un-hidden, that or destroy the virus that's making it hidden (if that's what it is).

Make a copy of the file and put it into the Bryce execution folder. It is likely you have
more problems than one file, though.
Also, the file you have may be the wrong version.

What about regedit.com? is deleting that the dumbest thing someone could do, or is there a potential for that solving my system 32 folder issue? I don't even really care about Bryce, to be honest... I'm hoping to get 3DWS soon anyway. But the System 32 Folder being hidden is stopping Windows from being capable of updating itself, and that more than anything else is worrisome for me.

@Matt Rock - If you're worried about deleting Regedit, why don't you just rename it? Therefore if something gets messed you can just rename it back. Personally I don't see how that could in any way solve your problem, but whatever :-P

Just delete it. It's almost certainly been placed there by some nasty program to stop you running regedit.

It's probably time for a format if your virus checker can't get rid of it. Hard to be sure otherwise and if your developing games and sending exes to people you don't want to take any chances.

By way of demonstration, he emitted a batlike squeak that was indeed bothersome.

ugh, formats. Here's the problem with formatting my HD, and all of you Sony haters finally have some firepower coming directly from a Sony Fanboy:

Sony didn't give me an OS disk (or any disks at all) with my Vaio

It has a built-in recovery thingy... but I'm not keen on using it, something about it seems too risky, and I don't have access to another 160GB hard drive so I can send all of my source code and media files and funny pictures of the president off to a safe place while doing it. And 160 GB is a whole lot of DVD-R's lol

I'll try Phil's idea, and if that doesn't work, I'll try Jeku's. But I agree with you, I don't see how deleting regedit.com can fix the problem either.
