Advance Wars Dual-Strike, Meteos, Fifa Soccer 06, Animal Crossing DS, Age of Empires, and the New Super Mario Bros.

Those are the games I have, and they're solid. Not in any order.

You have to get the games Jeku mentioned, plus Sonic Rush, Metroid Prime Hunters, Castlevania, the upcoming Contact, Brain Age, Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble, The Rub Rabbits, the upcoming Final Fantasy III, Trauma Center: Under the Knife, and Pheonix Wright.

Trauma Center is probably one of the best DS games I've ever played.

No-one's mentioned Phoenix Wright - Ace Attourney? Funny game, and you get to shout "Objection!!!" in an over the top anime style. It's an adventure type game, with several chapters - investigate the mysteries, grill the suspects and defend your client!

Metroid Prime:Hunters is a must buy, I love the multiplayer death match, reminds me of Quake3 a lot, it's amazing how they got it all in a handheld game.

Animal Crossing is for sandbox gamers - you either love it or hate it.

Bubble Bobble DS has a new version which is not great, but the classic game is excellent, if you don't mind retro then it's worth picking up preowned.

Tiger Woods is pretty good too, I prefer it to the traditional joypad versions, you use the stylus to sweep round a curve - it's good but missing some expected features like single DS multiplayer.

Monkey Ball is decent, the new control method is pretty strange, so I tend to use the D-pad, but it's a fairly good conversion.

Trauma Centre is great, stuck on a level with tons of exploding arteries, but despite the difficulty level it's really cool.

The Mario games are all worth buying, I'd say that Mario64 is the best value for money, you get a massive game for your 30 bucks.

The best driving game I've played is Ridge Racer DS, just using the D-pad as I find their stylus ideas suck, but it plays just like it should, lot's of power slides and it's nice and smooth. I have burnout and Need for Speed, both kinda sketchy. These driving games are always going cheap, but are really not worth the bother.

Tony Hawks Sk8land is great, if you like Hawks games then you'll get a lot from it, the graphics are a bit like Jet Grind Radio (I'd love to see a DS version of that, with real graffiti!). The online mode is fine as long as you don't pwn anyone too much, they tend to quit out of games quickly when they're loosing . The new downhill Hawks game should be out soon, looks pretty good.

Splinter Cell is often going cheap too, it's got the main gameplay elements, and it's worth picking up if you like that stealth gameplay, graphics are a bit bare, but it sucks you right in nontheless.

Final Fantasy 3 isn't out yet, but the screenshots look insane, definately one to look out for.

I like the sound of most of those games, I will probably buy most of them over time.

Do they have Final Fantasy 7 on the DS?

Is Trauma Centre any thing like theme hospital?

No mate, although it would be a cool idea, as the Final Fantasy VII series seem to be conquering PSX(FF7), PS2(FF7: Dirge of Cerberus), mobile phone(FF7: Before Crisis), DVD(FF7:Advent Children) and PSP(FF7: Crisis or something like that)

Must buys IMO are Advance Wars DS, Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros.

My daughter really likes Nintendogs and my wife really likes Brain Training and I must concurr that they are both good (btw, both of them play the New Super Mario Bros mini-games daily).

Does the brain training game give you, your IQ? If it does I would like to buy it.

Does any one have a review from playing zoo tycoon or Star Fox Command?

Ouch, I feel bad for you. The two worst driving games on the DS

Another good game is World Championship Poker, if you're into casino games. As long as you turn off the annoying animations it's a pretty good game too.

Tony Hawk's American Sk8land is fantastic, if a little short with even more buggy netplay than Mario Kart.

I got that game, and it's the latter.

I seriously, seriously do not know how this game holds the attention of grown men and women. I am 17, and this game just burned me out on it's first week. It feels like a consistent virtual excerise. If I can't be bothered to work on my lawn and get a part-time job in real life, why do would I want to do it on a handheld game?

I just honestly expected more mini-games, and more frequently. And uh....just more stuff to DO.

I like the idea of a cute little sandbox game to play on the train but...this one just feels too fabricated and lifeless.

I want in on that Loco Roco thing man! It's like Gish and Lemmings had a kid who inherited the looks of Katamari Damacy.

Nope. I've played the demo of Zoo Tycoon on PC, it was fun, fun enough for me to buy, but I never did. I liked putting people in with the Lions because, well you can guess why a sadistic/psychotic person such as myself would do such a thing. But I don't know if the DS version is the same.

Um, you didn't start the thread with those questions. Basically if nobody responded then it means "NO".

Look at me' post above yours.

Jeku! I'm telling EA you said that. I mean you just say two EA games were bad! 'Tis a sin.

The DS version of Zoo Tycoon sucks. Starfox Command is better than Assault but not nearly as awesome as SF64. But the online play is a nice addition.

Hehehe--- there are only a few EA games I've liked over the years, and I don't care if my boss knows (I've told him that in fact) Time Splitters Future Perfect, NHL 07, Fifa 06 (DS), Black, and pretty soon Spore. That's about all the games I've like from the company in the past while.

Agree. I bought it for the GameCube because I am into experimental games to broaden your mind (oOoAh, man, it's full of stars) but, really, I was quickly bored to tears with it.

Thank goodness I bought it on budget.

I don't know why, but Animal Crossing keeps me coming back. I was in dire straits for some cash a few months ago and sold my DS version of it, but lately I've been playing through the NGC version again. I don't know what I like so much about checking out Tom Nook's store everyday and trying to catch all the insects.

And because previously I've never played this game in the summer or fall seasons, I'm catching tons of red snappers, barred knifejaws, and bell locusts that are worth lots of bells. And Sunday morning I put all my cash towards the stalk market

Damn, so addicting. Somebody needs to do an AC clone as I haven't found another game quite like it!

I don't see how Harvest Moon is like AC at all. They might share some small mini-features.

Harvest Moon is more about farming, raising cattle, milking them, growing veg, picking fruit... Similar but very different gameplay.

Harvest Moon rocks, it feels more like a storyline with that because each year you get a bigger house, your kid grow up, and different things happen all the time.

Winter in Animal Crossing is pretty cool, you can make huge snowballs .

I have Harvest Moon for NGC as well, but I still don't understand two things:

- If you die when not eating properly. My guy is ALWAYS hungry and I never have enough food for him.

- If you can lose the game by messing up. In AC I enjoy not having to worry about dying. There isn't a deadline for anything, really.

In Harvest Moon, I tend to eat the scraps lying about, but it's best to plant lots of trees, because having a lot of apples and stuff is a great way to make money and eat.

The fungus and roots and plants that grow wild usually get nabbed for eating and feeding to the cat and dog (when you can't be bothered fishing). If you have tons of fruit trees and the dehydrator, you can make tree seeds using just an apple, so an apple is worth like $10, but apple seeds are worth about $400, and you get 2 seeds per apple. So if you work out that each tree will give about 30 apples, multiplied by $800, then multiply that by the number of trees - there's money to be made!

As long as you eat, you should live forever in AC, I tend to eat whatever I find on my travels and have never died of hunger. It's one of those variable ending games I think - like the better you do, the better the ending, like you'd get a happy ending if your wife and kid like you enough, or she could file for divorce . For example, if you can't persuade your girl to marry you before the 2nd year, you get lumbered with a random choice, so it's like a relaxed fail scenario. It's really the sort of game that people should hate, but I'm a sand boxer and love that game. I mean, I have a pet goat called Bong, and he's useless, no wool to shear, no milk left, but I don't have the heart to let him die, so when he's sick he get's medicine like all the valuable animals.

I think the main objectives in these games are very similar, your really playing for rare items, like things you'd dig up in HM, be given, or actually grow yourself - the plant side of HM especially, you can use Tartan to make hybrid plants, some of them don't even have names, but that's the sort of game it is - everyone wants a banapple tree afterall. People play these games and wish they had certain things, like a cat as opposed to the dog - but if you make friends with the old woman, eventually she gives you a cat, it's like they mask most of the games depth, then open it up when the player get's intuitive. Murray rocks .

Um, Van? Is your goat really a he?

As for AC and other similar styled games, I usually go mad for them for a couple of weeks, then they tail off and I only go back to visit very occasionally. Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, The Sims, Oblivion, and possibly even the upcoming Viva Piniata (sp!!). I love games where I can do whatever I like at the pace that I prefer - but unfortunately I need structure and goals too or I get a little bored. *shrugs*

I guess I'm a lot like that, I played oblivion religiously, then completed it the other day and haven't bothered since, really though the only thing stopping me from finishing Harvest Moon is the size of NGC disks, I lost it!.

My goat is certainly a he, despite his milk-giving tendancy - you'll agree if you ever see the goat in HM, he's a bad tempered scruffy little git who could only be male.

I suppose it depends on how much you want to get out of games like that, in Animal Crossing your main goal (I think) is to get your house and Nook's shop upto their biggest setting, but even then I doubt there's a tangible end to it - Harvest Moon has a more definitive plot, you have to last for X years and your success is measured at the end. Personally I quite like the regimented nature of HM, like you have to get up early and do your chores, there's really not too much time for running around when you have a lot of crops to attend to, so it makes the game more frantic. Both games crack me up though, there's some really funny characters, like Murray, or that daft Agent S. There's nothing more satisfying than corrupting the guys on Animal Crossing, filthy little cretins the lot of them (well, after my influence at least).

ROFL I know what you mean. I like teaching the little guys in AC how to talk trash.

But in HM I enjoyed doing the crops. Maybe I should plant some trees-- I never really thought of that. I didn't give it enough time. Perhaps I could start it up again.

Lately I've been bored of programming once I get home so these little relaxing "sims" are grabbing me.

And yes, there is a nice "end" to AC if you can call it that. I don't want to give it away, but once you've paid everything off there's a cool little thing that happens.
