I don't get it, it doesn't make sense, what you said in the WIP board in this thread http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=88825&b=8:

Quote: "I'm allowing this thread then locking it so you can know what's wrong. We don't allow Team Requests at this forum--- you'll have to go elsewhere for that."

Go here http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=team_requests, and scrolll down all the way.

I admit the guy didn't have any screens and he was asking for too many members, but he still has a right to TRY to post that request there. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sure, he has the right to TRY and say whatever he wants. But we have only allowed maybe 5 team requests since Rich took the Team Request board down. There has to be something other than a guy who joined on that day asking for help with no sign of him doing anything (i.e. no screenies or anything).

So yes, I think it was a fair lock.

From the AUP:

Quote: "* Please note: Only the VERY BEST team requests are allowed in these boards. Even if you meet all of the criteria and obey all of the rules on this page we may still lock your team request in those two boards unless your project looks to be something really special."

This doesn't mean a line or two about the story then a bunch of open positions. Something special would be some screens or some videos that make us do a double take. We don't want the forum becoming infested with these kinds of TR posts like they were before.

No no, you misunderstand me. If I were a mod myself, I would have locked the guy's thread because it lacked what that guidline requires, except I would say that I had locked it because of that reason, not because it is in the WIP board. As it says in the guideline:

Quote: "We allow them in the follow boards only:
Work in Progress
General Talk
DarkBASIC Professional Discussion *
DarkBASIC Discussion * "

In fact, it's better to post in the WIP or General Talk board then in the DB boards.

I dunno, just pointing it out, no offense intended.

Ah ok I see where you're coming from If the thread author read the AUP he would see the little disclaimer at the bottom anyways I'll remember that for next time heh

I think the "I'm allowing this thread" refers to the noob slap - in other words, us lowly forum dwellers might never have seen it at all.

Is that right? Or am I talking pants?

Yeah you're right BatVink. The user just signed up so all his posts have to be approved. I figured that I allow it then lock it, so he won't think something's wrong and repost the thread. There's also the benefit of other new people being reminded not to post such a thread

I agree that the lock was perfectly founded, but the given reason was a bit fuzzy.
