November 19 @ $250! (yes, that's 2 days after the PS3 launch )

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6157572.html?tag=topslot;action;1

Let's hope they start the preorders ASAP. There will be 25 first and third party games at launch.

I'm in bliss.

EDIT:

There will also be about 30 classic games available to download from the online service from $5-10 and...

wait for it...

there will be a pack-in game with the system!

$250 - or abouts £130 - I often spend more than that on games, in a single month!

I'll be looking into preordering at the end of the month, I gotta get 2, one for my sons xmas and one for me .

Want! Need! Must have!
Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

</frothing fangirl>

I was impressed by the sheer amount of in-game footage, and lack of pre-rendered video pretties. They're really pushing for the 'play' aspect of it. I wonder where I can find more loose fitting, trendy comfortable white cotton clothes...

Hmmm, maybe for direct conversion. Once apon a time that would be "$250 - or abouts £250", esp. when the N64 came out. Good out rip-off Britain (again). Nowadays I'm guessing "$250 - or abouts £210". Like how one of the new BluRay players is about £500 (direct conversion) in the US, £630 in Europe, and about £900+ in the UK. Just love it.

Nah. I recon it´s more like £180 if the gamecube prices are anything to go by. Max £200.

Does anyone else fear the abundance of mini games for this system? Where are all the non-mini games? The ones that are actually worth 50€. (Yes I do know they exist and I don´t want to know what they are called, I was just stating that there are alot of fun for 5 minutes games)

That said, I will have to buy the thing anyway as Zelda is on it. If my brother didn´t live in a diferent country this would cheaper. He could buy it....I have a life time baggies on Zelda that would protect me.

Thanks, Crazy Ninja - the fact that even one of our own (a technologically inclined person like Higgins) doesn't know what the Wii is yet, means Nintendo has a way to go.

I for one look forward to introducing the curious to the Wii whenever they request it. (I'm not going to knock on doors and say "Have you considered letting the Wii into your life?" of course ;D )

I think I will wait till after christmas when things are a little more sane in price.
the current conversion to Oz looks bad toto.

250.00 USD United States Dollars = 331.018 AUD Australia Dollars
250.00 USD United States Dollars = 132.530 GBP United Kingdom Pounds
250.00 USD United States Dollars = 278.929 CAD Canada Dollars

oh, but that interface is magic ju ju on a silicon chip
bet ya cant stop staring at it as well.

that interface changes so many aspects to gaming, dare to say its a revolution returned
when paddles guns and joysticks were invented.

now its time to take the fire pole.

Demo downloads, mini-games - with the DS's wireless game transfer there's a hella lot that could be done .

One thing I can imagine is a company including their DS game demos, like what we see with the XBox quite a lot, like bonus features but actually worthwhile for a change.

It would certainly be possible to have the DS play alongside the Wii, like maybe a gadget in a Splinter Cell type game, pick locks and stuff using the stylus while you play the game on the Wii - kinda quirky but imagine the percentage of DS owners who'll buy a Wii, it might just happen.

Personally I'd love to see an Oblivion style game on Wii, there's Zelda, but really I want something massive, something to get lost in. If Oblivion was released on Wii, then forgot the 360, the controller would be ideal, but we all know that. My point is that Nintendo tend to like you to free roam within their safe confines - even in games like Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing, there's still a distinct lack of freedom in comparison to Elder Scrolls games.

Things look really good for the Wii, now I just hope Nintendo get some violent and deep games in development. Zelda is on the right track, but it's Zelda, an RPG for non-RPG fans - I'm thinking it won't be violent enough to satisfy my post work bloodlust.

Red steel is looking fantastic! It even has that authentic Japanese feel to the graphics without looking like a manga cartoon!

If Nintendo can make WiiConnect24 like a social networking site it could really take off with the customisable avatars, gaming awards (if they are present, I haven't heard anything about them yet) and personal picture and video uploading.

Looking forward to the Wii launch!

Wii is my top choice for next gen platforms because, well, Nintendo always aim more at making games that are "fun" rather than run the technology race.

Some people may call a lot of their stuff childish, but as I get older (pushing 34 now) I feel that's a load of cobblers. They say childish, I say fun ("let's call the whole thing off").

In the Sony side, I have both Playstations, on Nintendo I have a GB (brick), GBC, SNES, N64, GameCube and a DS. And I consistently have more fun on Nintendo machines...

At a guess, prices to be anounced tomorrow will be

UK - £199
Europe - 229,99 Eur

based on nothing other than a willingness to end this post with figures.

I have vague plans for World Domination

Apparently the Wii also comes with Wii sports (at least in the US). And Wii sports has been expanded to include boxing and bowling.

Agreed, all the others go for next gen graphics, Nintendo, next gen game play, being a game system do I need to say more about which really should be most important.

Some people call me childish, but I just like to enjoy myself, or it could be on the account I still loves kids TV But eastenders is too much 'What you say about me sl*g? You slept with my boyfriend!' and a new death a week...

I noticed that, that would be something fun to start off with, looking like a fool with the controller in front of the TV...

The Wii is my first choice for sure of next gen consoles (just wish they had left it as the "Revolution" )

but i probably won't be buying any next gen console... because i'm not exactly dripping cash here (also i already own a x-box so not much excuse until it breaks )

You mean to say that the DS/lite will be able to download Demos through the Wii?
Awesome!

I agree on the 'Console Fun' thing. Who wants there console to have great graphics and poor gameplay when you can have the fun on the console, and the graphics on a computer!

I will wait a little before I buy this.

BTW: What is Wii360? They have that as an option on the TGC Homepage for the poll.

When Sony announced just how high the PS3 price would be, and when everyone realised approx how cheap a Wii would be, a lot of people started warming to a Wii/360 combo rather than one PS3.

249 Euros is actually 167.683 GBP, not 179 GBP. I'm assuming that 179 GBP is the released price, so once again we even get priced higher even than the rest of Europe (we always assume to be higher than the US and Japan). So much for european market and all that. Oh, and we will be last. Normally are with IT (apart from phones it seems). Even though we tend to spend **** loads.

Problem is US has an NTSC standard for displays, while Europe etc have PAL. Also, while the console itself isn't region locked for games, some of the games might be if the publishers so decide

Don't mix us up with Europe (we don't really think that way). We generally get hit much worse by tax and stuff than them. Europe is pretty much a bargain for most things. Cars for example. And petrol. And pretty much everything else.... The EU and all that is good for all the poor countries (ie. def. not the UK).

Actually even my cheapo 18o€ 5 year old telly supports NTSC. The main problem is those strange power holes they use in the US. Aparently they´re not 230V. And the fact that publishes might region lock their games.

Yeah, but swapping plugs is easy. Developers can decide to region-lock individual games, so there must be some way to store the region on the actual console even though its not automatically locked.

Actually, I read that the Wii is region locked, and that the US Nintendo had made a mistake in saying that. Shame, that would have been nice.
