Hi everyone been really busy this is my first time on tgc in a week.lol Anyways my school has a computer club and are moderator wants to get more involved and he wants us to find some competitions that we could do. Ive been programming for a while so its not a problem for me but we have people on very different skill levels. We were doing C# last year(Is still prefer c++ though. I guess im just used to it but C# code is much more organized). So really what I want to ask is if anyone knew of some competitions we could get involved in. Of course I want to find a few of course for different skill levels.thanks

I cant believe people who spell crap, can actually code. If you make a basic spelling error, then you are bound to make one while coding, right?

Any way, why dont you throw in some cash, and have the computer club members create a program, or create a game level. The winner would get the cash.

Thats why we use an editor with code completion, and full syntax highlighting.

Personaly I prefered the spectrum with all the keywords there in frount of me

Oh and anyway is one word

Seriously, he came here asking a simple question awaiting a simple answer and you come and critique his spelling (which aside from maybe an accidental typo is just fine). Lay off a bit guys, everyone is so edgey (sp? wouldn't want anyone to make fun of me if I spelled it wrong carelessly) around here lately.

Higgins, your whole comment is just... embarrassing.

I think you should worry about your lousy grammar before you critique people on thier spelling.

And if you program without making spelling errors, then you haven't been programming long.

I answered his question, for what he should do for a contest to get people more involved.

(Maybe RF's post in the 3D Chat forum wiped off on me, so I had a go at him for spelling)

Urm, Zerk, you missed out the end of the sentence, which makes the beginning make sense:

cant is can't, thats what I think he is picking at. To be honest, who gives a crap about peoples spelling as long as you understand them. It must have occured to you that perhaps he learned how to spell programming words after so many syntax errors.

But I think people should chill out and not be so picky on what people say/do unless it offends or insults you...

I don't agree with you there. Spelling is important! Make as few mistakes as possible!

Anyone for a pie? Pies anyone?

Normal service will be resumed shortly.

How about a competition where you get a program framework, and you have to fill in the gaps in the most creative way? That might involve creating a class that does whizzy things, or some missing logic.

Crap isnt an adverb, so its still gramaticaly wrong. I dont care to be honest. I just want you to realise that it was an error. Which we normaly wouldnt comment apon.

My spelling is really bad, but as long as you understand what Im trying to say, Im not bothered, this isnt a report for my boss, its just a throwaway post to you.

My first reply to you was tounge in cheak. Yet you actualy tried to defend your error. Why? If this was for an exam or something you wouldnt have made that mistake. (And really thats the only place it should have been brought up)

So even though it was still wrong, because it made sense it shouldnt have been critisised. Fair enough please follow that rule.

There should be no comma there.

EDIT:

Really, if you are going to critique, do it without hypocrisy.
