Why not just buy one of the games used and take it back if you dont want to keep it. Alot of places have money back guarentees within the first week if you don't want the game.

I haven't seen one company give you money back for a game that you've opened.

Electronic Boutique in Oz will trade or buy back your older games, as well as hardware consoles for sale or upgrades to newer consoles.

Or, you could just pay the fair market price for it, as intended.

Some time ago, I bought a game (don't recall which, maybe Black) the day it came out. EB said that I could buy it used for $15 under the list price. That is very odd - to be able to have the game compete with itself on the release date. In the US...it could be said to violate fair trade. The "used" game's profit goes to EB, not the manufacturer.

In fact, the resale of any video game does not benefit the people that made it. It does benefit the retailer, however...and users to a great extent.

Umm...modding is not an ethical practice, but I am not responding to argue that point. I do not have a lot of money, either...I buy used games a lot...but, I try to restrict it to games that are very old - 3 years or more. After the first year, games prices plummet.

Anyway...there are many websites you can visit for mods - hardware and software. http://mod-chip.com

screw the law anyway. making modding illegal is just a new way the big cheapskate companys rip us off. thay just dont want us to get the best out of our consoles so when they bring a new one out we have to get that?

I said not ethical, I did not say illegal. I also said that I was not responding to argue its legality, or its ethics. That is my opinion...it is unethical. Consoles are supposed to be black boxes...that's why they are black.

I said used games. I'm pretty sure the gamestop up the road from my house lets you return the used game within a week if its damaged or you aren't satisfied with it.

Modding a console is about as unethical as owning a VCR or a home PVR system.
