Alright, so the other day my PC was running super slow (and it really, REALLY shouldnt) so I figured an adware/spyware/virus scan/reboot was the way to go, so I did all the above. When I rebooted however, I got the point where I could see my destktop image, but it took my icons + start menu a good 5 minutes to appear, and it cant aquire a network address so no internet
I think the problem is that during one of windows updates, I hit cancel about 1/5 the way through....and it never finished updating. A few programs (requiring a TCP connection) encounter errors while opening. I booted in safe mode which worked fine, but when I went to boot safe mode with networking, the same thing happened - long boot time. I've come to the conclusion there is something wrong with my PC's networking.
I tried reinstalling the drivers for my ethernet card (completely removed the card from my system and reinstalled it with different drivers) and still the same problem. Since I cant connect to the internet, I cant do a windows update, and I tried doing a system restore but it doesnt work...ever.
Any ideas on what to do here? Maybe a new network card would be the solution to my problems? Anything you need me to check, please let me know. Thanks a lot everyone
