After quite a long while modelling and so on, I finished my bolt action sniper rifle. It has no crosshair on regular mode, so you can only aim accurately by looking through the sight.

When you move with it, it obscures alot of your view, kind of forcing the player to use this weapon only at long range, and behind cover...

On the vid is the sniper rifle in action, a clip of new grenade explosions, and a retexture of the combat rifle from FOTF.

Comments and criticism would be appreciated!

Looks awsome! Maybe a bit more movement as it bolts, but other than that great work!

I really like the no crosshairs unless zoomed-in feature and narrow FOV. Great gameplay mechanics for a sniper rifle IMO.

Thanks man! I'm tryin to build disadvantages into all of the weapons, so some are suited to certain situations.

@Jon F

Haven't spoken in a while man, thanks for checking it out! Haven't seen much on CP2 for a while. Any progress?

Not bad Butter but I think the texture could be a little more detailed being you see it so close up. I only say this because of how good your game is.

LOL, cheers Loc, the body texture was actually a screw up, but I dunno, I think the shell eject slot looks crappy, and the body is a bit stretched. I'll have a play later on. I'm thinking of custom animated the shell so it flies out when you pull the cocking lever, instead of when you fire.

Butters, Iam kind of edging to the belief that this is my rifle I made, but it looks like you have added stuff to it. So if it was my rifle you edited, Iam not very happy, but if its your own, then thats fine. So please clear this up.

Higgins, I can post you a wireframe, it's a totally original model.

I can't import .x into maya. It's totally impossible without polytrans but just to put your mind at rest I've attached a direct comparison. As you can see, my barrels are modelled differently, and the body of the gun is a different shape and more triangulated. I realise these things are hard to prove or disprove, but I assure you I would never dream of ripping off your work.

Thats fine then butters, I only said so because it looked like mine.

It looks like you have far too many polys in the barrel, you could get the same result if you modelled it like I have

Awesome gun as usual.

there is an animated recoil effect. it just isn't visible when you are on scope view!
