IMPORTANT
When using character AI, select 'general_standard.fpi' as the main script, and nothing as the shoot script. The other scripts are SUBSCRIPTS, called by the main script. You also need to turn off physics on the enemy entity, so making them spawn from a trigger is a good idea. Also, do not relocate character scripts, as this will cause the AI to no longer function. This only applies to Character AI scripts, not the ones under the folder 'objects'.

Overview
This is the first beta of a free script pack I am making. You may know that I already released this beta in the other thread, but this is to make it more apparent to those who don't check. For more info on the scripts themselves, visit the thread 'Free Script Pack in the Making :: Need Suggestions'.

Installing
To make life easy, I'm including the pack in a simple installer that will automaticly install all the contents where they need to be, as long as you put in FPSC's full directory. All scripts are put in your scriptbank in the subfolder 'Airslide'.

**First to Post!**

Downloading now man.

Going out as soon as it's done, but I'll test it to pieces when I get back!

I had real trouble with branching scripts (sometimes they wouldn't load), so I'm interested to see what you've done. Perhaps if we both have strengths, we should do some kind of deadly combo script!

Anyway, I look forward to testing.

Peace.

actually I've just had a another thought (and missed the edit button).

But if this script pack kicks the proverbial buttocks, then I might leave enemy AI to you, and work solely on an ally script set, that would include a bunch of scripted actions, as well as more independent characters.

That way, we would be mutually beneficial to each other, as opposed to being in direct competition. It'd be fun to see if my allies could beat your enemy AI and visa versa!

Ya, that would be cool, I just need to get Empty's mod again (I have V1.03 now) unless TGC adds ally support.

Anybody else test?

Yes. I only tested the general_standard.fpi. I used it on Aiko and she wouldn't move until I shot her. Then she just ran away. No matter what I did, she just kept running from me. Maybe it was something I said.

Did you turn off the physics for the enemy? You might need to turn Always Active on too.

@Lukeirado - You must have posted right before me, lol!

Anybody else find it nice or have tried it? It's just that there are 180 views and few replies - and I thought you people wanted AI

LOL.

They did want AI mate.

And they took it and ran away. If you think about it, it's a good thing. It means you didn't have any bugs. Otherwise this thread would be full of posts about problems.

I know how you feel. Sometimes it feels like you cant win either way.
It sucks when nobody post, because you feel unappreciated. It sucks when everyone posts bugs, cuz then you feel overwhelmed.

So... uh thanks for putting the time in to do these scripts dude. I and all the other ungrateful ones really appreciated it.

I've tried your general_standard script on Modern day - speicialist with the machine gun. He was stuck running in a corner of a room segment. When I shot him he did not respond. I used a trigger, physics off, always active on. Then I tried physics on, always active on, and then pysics on, always active off. Each time the response was the same.

Same as GeoNeo and my previous post. I think I have tried all of the combinations but with the general_standard script, enemies just run from me, and usually get stuck in a wall.

I have not tried any of the other scripts.

On the subject of AI, it seems that people either want something very specific (Can you make a script where the enemy does the hokey pokey and then jumps on one foot and yells "LALALALALALALA"?), or they want a magic script that knows exactly what to do in each situation.

Besides, AI is a great complaint topic and excuse for not being able to make a decent game. Why would we want someone to fix it?

Hmm...thanks for posting the bugs, I just tested in smaller settings, this happens to me too. I'm adding some things and I'll post the new download in a minute or two...
