Hello,

I intend to create a mellee weapon for a game. I hope to use the weapon maybe as a player and make an enemy use it too.
And since its a mellee weapon, I want it to have 2-3 different animations (such as 'strike' from above, 'slash' kind, maybe 'poke')

The question I had was :

Should I create the weapon as a seperate model in milkshape? Or should I make the weapon as part of my enemy model?

Also, will the weapon creator software be able to make the weapon FPSC ready for me?

thank you for your help.

I think you are going to have to choose one kind of attack animation.
You could make all three but when you press the fire button it would play all three animations.
An alternative would be to make three separate weapons that look exactly the same and give each a different firing animation.

I was thinking more on lines of using random function to play each animation.

And about my first question...so if I can make a mellee weapon FPSC ready, I guess I can model it seperately?

As far as I know there is no way to add a random function to the firing animation.
There are others who are far better at making weapons than I am.
They might be able to help you in that regard if there is a way.
You should probably make the weapon separate from the enemy.

Just in case you missed it, we are no longer limited to the ENTER key for input.

see the following thread.

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=89315&b=23

You can now use different keys for each animation.

The forum provides a means to hide our true identity. Too bad we always screw up and let it be seen.

soz filya but its not posible to make mellee weapons for entitys.

they still hold the weapon, but they use it like a gun and hit u from 40-50 feet away.

the player is the only enitity that can use the mellee weapon properly.

Maybe you should check out the Keenblade.
I think that enemies can use it pretty well but I can't remember for sure.
And melee weapons should have the same range for the enemy as for the player.
That can be adjusted in the gunspec file.

oh maybe it was only the ones i got. but yer the range can be fixed but they still hold it like a gun. (eg. they just hold it there and without slashing it hits u.)

For my sept contest, (if you have played the game) I did model the enemy with the weapon itself

nope didnt play it. as you can see i didnt join till late october. and yer i found out a really easy way to do mellee.

put the sword so it looks like they r slashing when they use the throw animation. then just put in a mellee script and it looks rly realistic.
