This site is the new ad campaign for the Philips Norelco Body Groom. It's farkin' hilarious!

After the intro, go to "Main Menu" and start at "The Basics".

Marketing has hit a new high, or a new low depending on your perspective.

Yes indeed, it made me smile, where most ads make me cringe. It's an achievement!

Hah. Go to basics and he says ask any question (while flashing you - covered up mosiac style). After a while he starts to sing to himself. Along with several amusing lines he comes up with "The longer you wait, the longer your pubes get". That is just like totally awesome! LOL.

I wasn't sold at all on the Optical Inch. An increase of just 5% seems totally pointless.

I reckon Phillips looked at the site, thought it was slightly racey, but went with it. I am better a *lot* that they didn't completely play all the media on the site (ie. QA everything), as some of it does seem a bit over the edge for an advert.

For a standard ad from a normal company then quotes like "Afterwards she may want to wear your **** and ***** as a roman gladiator mask" or the "extra optical inch" seems to be a little bit over the line. I mean considering it should be compared to day time TV ads (I saw no over 18 only type comments anywhere) then I would choke on my lunch if I saw that on TV. Personally I don't give a monkeys, but I am just someone like Phillips would do it.

And a friend of mine thought Korma was too hot when I advised it for him (hates hot food). Yeah, I know. Was the same thing when he got Bombay potatoes. Honestly, is like potatoes with baked beans or somesuch...

I'd actually say that's very mild for something on the internet. Little kids have no clue what an optical inch on a picture of a carrot means.

That's the thing though chap ... if it was on tele, I would agree, but it's on the Internet. Mild for Mr Internet, as megs said. It's a product aimed at people with facial, bollock, chest and ring piece hair, all of which I have in absurd quantities. I therefore favour the hedge strimmer, and a highly developed aim.

The advertising world is amazing to me. The good, the bad, the ugly. It reflects society, and also inspires it.

Norelco has always had an interesting advertising scheme. I still remember the Santa riding the electric razor...it meant Christmas was not far away.

The new Mac commercials are great, and I like the Vonage ads, too. Geico is really campaigning hard, too.

Also, I enjoy seeing ads from around the world. It was very entertaining seeing how much Japanese TV relied on American actors to hawk products.

btw, you should have seen the program "MadTV" last night. The show has now completely rid itself of all vestiges of the magazine (a real shame, imo), and it is all sex, and perversion...not even particularly amusing. Kind of reminds me of the difference between later "Benny Hill" and say, David Allen...who is a genius, imo.

@Jeku...it is if you are "South Park", or Kevin Smith fans. Those guys can be genuinely funny, but they dumb-down the humor until it is so purile that it actually elicits my shame instead of my amusement.

Except for the flat-out lies

But it's still potty humour, regardless. It's easy to milk some cheap laughs with this kind of humour--- doesn't take any skill IMHO.

That is my favorite part...the audacity of it all. Today, I was inspired to look for the 'Stormtrooper Cops' video...I had to put QuickTime on for that, so now I get to see Steve Jobs all the time! (Plus, my son wants a iPod, and iDont.

Yes, that is why I like the video I got. It was totally homebrew, and it is very funny.

Obviously for the internet it's no big deal. I dunno though, for a company like Phillips I was quite surprised.

Dazzag, as usual I agree. I have always liked Philips, too. Seriously, I buy their products alot. Sony has been a little questionable, too...imo. We now accept the premise that we will have more and better sex if we go ahead and buy all of the products we are offered in this fashion. That is a shame, and that is capitalism at its very worst.
