Just saw this and realised it is an absolutely 100% photorealistic CGI human.

Unbelievable.

Same model without expressions and some rendering effects:

Would be much easier to find an actor and a camera.

That's exactly what I thought.

It's promo stuff for Kane & Lynch though, so I guess he had to look like the game character.

Maybe they use a simplified version in the actual game?

In about ten years, I recon pretty much all games will be photorealistic.

While that IS very good, it still looks fake However I would be very proud if I could do that... heck I'd be proud if I could do 1% of that.

Bollocks it looks fake.

If I was to now say - "Ha ha, it's actually real" - you really wouldn't know if I was lying, would you.

The 2nd image doesn't look real, but the first one certainly does - only in an artistic way though. I.e. if you had said it was an extremely well painted picture, I would have believed that too. I.e. it's great because it doesn't look CGI, but it still doesn't look 'real'. It reminds me of movie poster artwork, where they take film stills and digitally enhance them.

The 2nd image is CGI all the way though, sorry.

You can pass the first image of as real because the filter makes it hard to tell if it's CG or a real face. Second isn't anywhere close to "100% photorealistic".

Excellent model though.

The first model's teeth look fake, and the second model's eyes look fake. But you're right--- if you didn't say anything about it being CG I wouldn't have considered the first one being abnormal.

the thing is CGI is alot more entertaining than regular everyday life that we call photorealism...

I'd rather have CGI than real life, I dont know why people want to achieve photorealism in games that are meant to take the player into another world.

If you could experience visuals on an everyday basis similar to those in video games, why play?

If you take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. So then if you want to see the ultimate achievement of CGI, just go look in the mirror.

Same here. I still long for some old classic graphics sometimes. I really do WANT to see photrealism in games, but when we get to that stage, I hope they don't make every "realistic" game like that. I sometimes look back to the old days, and see the old graphics, and so long as they aren't sloppy, they seem really inviting.

Good stuff, saw the image at CGtalk, the CG industry is getting pretty awesome, doubt anyone could have done that 5 years ago.

[edit]
Indi I looked at the fake or photo think, the head in there is awesome, also, 10/10 and 4/4 first time
