I thought it might be cool if we could all share some Lego designs and creations we have made. Or maybe I'm the only Lego guy here, I don't know. Anyhow, here is my lates creation...

It's concept art for... well... a Lego game I am planning on making eventually. This mech will be pilotable, and also an enemy unit. This isn't the first time I have used Lego as concept art. I actually find them usefull for a basic layout for my 3d modeling.

Anyhow without further ado...

His legs are fully moldable and bendable, and his arms can aim up and down. His right arm can aim horizontally also. His waist swivels. So basically thats it. If you have anything, post it up!

P.S. brickshelf is awesome if you are into legos

man that brings back some fine memories indeed.
Iirc lee bamber did something with mindstorm so dark basic and lego are very closely twined in some ways.
i had 2 space and 2 techincs packs as a kid,man that was fun.
they would make great 3d model if you ask me

Good olde Lego. As a young kid I was brought up in Italy mainly on an American air force base. Dunno if it is because of the Italians or the Americans, but I always called it "Laygo", cos everyone there did too apparently. Got the **** ripped out of me for years after as everyone in England calls it "Leg-o". Also Legoland is like practically round the corner from me, so maybe I should pop in and check from the horses mouth exactly how they say it in Norway, or wherever it comes from.

Cheers

So you live in and around Widsor? I used to live in Langley, and went to Legoland the year it opened. Cool day out, even though there was still a lot of vacant space that I assume has since been filled with even more Lego.

As a kid Lego was my favourite toy. I still have a huge boxfull of legos stashed somewhere at my mother's house, waiting for my daughter to be old enough for me to dig it out so I can play with them.

Yeah, I live on edge of Bracknell. Literally round the corner to Ascot. When I go to work (in Slough... spit...) I can go one way which takes me past Legoland and Ascot racecourse (looks nice now they have rebuilt it). Oh, and Windsor castle of course.

My best acheivement with Lego was a 5"7' tower I made in my living room. I was only 9 at the time, so eventually I had to rope in my Dad to start adding some of the top sections towards the end!

I know this argument has been brought up before, but it really irks me when people say "Legos". Although, technically using "Lego" as a plural is still incorrect, I'd ascertain that it's nowhere near as bad as saying "Legos".

Quote: "The Lego Group's name has become so synonymous with its flagship toy that many use "Legos" or "Lego" (collectively) to refer to the bricks themselves, though the Lego Group considers such use a dilution of their trademark. Lego catalogues in the 1970s and 1980s contained a note that read:

"The word LEGO® is a brand name and is very special to all of us in the LEGO Group Companies. We would sincerely like your help in keeping it special. Please always refer to our bricks as 'LEGO Bricks or Toys' and not 'LEGOS.' By doing so, you will be helping to protect and preserve a brand of which we are very proud and that stands for quality the world over. Thank you! Susan Williams, Consumer Services."

A similar message also appeared to everyone who errantly visited http://www.lego.com/ in the year 2005, however it was removed within the next several months, (but not before generating a buzz among many realms of the blogosphere).[citation needed]

"Lego" is officially written in all uppercase letters. The company asserts that to protect its brand name, the word Lego must always be used as an adjective, as in "LEGO set," "LEGO products," "LEGO universe," and so forth."

Yeah, I always thought the same. I may think it sounds better pronounced "Laygo", but "Legos" is like a cardinal sin.

I still have all of my lego sets from when I was a kid, couldnt bring myself to ever chuck them - since I was very fond of lego I have em all poured into a giant container. Maybe when my daughter is older I'll see if she likes them.

I'd like to publicly appologise for, in my previous post and in one of the two instances where I mentioned a group of Lego bricks, doing so by using the word "l*gos".

I was probably thinking about the former capital city of Nigeria or something.

I don't build Lego so much as I used to, but every now and then I get an idea, or go on some building spree. Last time it happened I built a Lego terrorist outpost with machine gun nests, 5 insurgents, a pickup truck, stinger rocket launcher... lol.

All you guys ought to go to your parents house and pick up your old Lego collection. Age has nothing to do with such a cool toy. I'm 18 and I don't think I'll ever not have Lego in my house when I move out, especially if I have kids. They are just too awesome.

Here's some WIP screens from the Lego game I was talking about. Just sort of a teaser. I really don't have much done, just the basic FPS running around and firing system.

Some of these pics are slightly old, but I don't have time to grab new ones. The only real difference is some of the weapon textures are more finished, and the laser rifle shoots green instead of red.

The fun part about this game is that all the weapons and vehicles will be buildable with Lego bricks although they may not have a lego texture on them. It will be more a dark gritty Lego FPS. Not a bright happy "lets build a wall to protect our troops!" type Lego game. It should be fun.

I must add that it is better than Lego Star Wars, which was only barely cute for 5 minutes, and did not rate a sequel.

Yes, it should be considered a collective noun, but we are all dating ourselves beyond repair being annoyed, since it has been in
the vernacular for about 15 years, or so. It is hardly the worst affront on the language today.

I wanted it to have a feel of darkness like Prime, and Star Wars Republic Commando. They are both fun games, and mixed with a sort of Lego world, I think it would be awesome.

Oh, wow do I remember playing with Legos! I built so many things yet never once took a picture of anything. I remember my various cities, towers, and of course my Lego pool (It didn't go so smoothly). I think Legos are a great toy, I sure wish I knew where mine were right now, who knows what kind of gadget I could make.

Back by unpopular demand!
Battle Legacy has gone MMORPG! Nah, Im just kidding. But seriously, check the WIP

[Edit] Image is way too big, just click view [/Edit]

I built it a while back, like two or three years ago,
but I still havent destroyed it, its about a foot and a half long, maybe two. I think its pretty tight tho.

Agreed. Although they look cool in their own right, if you're going to go lego, you really need to go all the way.

I'm not sure I want to go that far... I was thinking to go about as far as Lego in the real world. So like, real outdoor scenery, lego based weapons, characters, tanks, vehicles, and structures. Also, building a world entirely out of Lego, in my opinion isn't a very visually pleasing. Though we'll see. I agree it would be cool, though tons of work

Though, I have an idea in that sense now that you mention it. I could model terrain after lego outdoor baseplates, so in comparison it would be a low poly terrain...

No, a collective noun...like deer. A mass noun is like cattle.

There is a museum...I think in LA.

@Agent dink...and lend itself to procedural drawing and modifying, since it is composed of a number of simple shapes.

No, a collective noun is like pride in a pride of lions. Can you tell me what group of objects deer defines? No, because it isn't a collective noun, it's a mass noun.

Close, but 'deer' is actually a count noun. Why? Because deer can be used to describe a specific number of that object, "I see two deer". On the other hand, a mass noun has no such use: "There are two rice" is gramatically incorrect, therefore rice is a mass noun.

On the other hand, although Lego is used as a mass noun, the Lego corporation itself has explicitly expressed they would prefer it if it were used strictly as an adjective. I.e. "I see two Lego bricks".

Either way, it's all inconsequential. I'm sure most people couldn't care less about the different types of nouns.

Hooray for LEGO bricks!! These are like(well used to be) one of my favorite toys! Hmmm... now you have inspired me to do something with them, since they've been sitting in my room untouched for a while. I might not have enough time though, darn.

On further note mindstorms is also pretty great, good job for the stuff you did on it lee.

Hooray for LEGOS! It's LEGOS and will always be called LEGOS, with an S!

Legos sure have gotten expensive since the 80's. I remember once building this huge hospital when I was a kid, took me days. I was nearly finished and set it up on the couch when I left to go eat. That's when I came back to found out my dad had sat on it, demolishing it. All that work, gone. Stupid jerk! I never finished my hospital.

Actually, I was trying to say that it should be a count noun. i should be able to say, I used blue lego, red lego, white lego and made this lego sculpture.

In common useage, cattle is not a count noun...it is usually modified with the phrase "head of". I can use deer to refer to either individual deer, or a group of deer. I can also say, "5 deer" . If Lego insists I create a commercial for them everytime I speak of Lego, then...I want to be able to get my money's worth, that's all.
