There is a game called Elasto Mania. It's a very fun and very addictive game. A shareware edition can be downloaded at [href]http:\\www.elastomania.com[/href]. It's about a guy riding a motorbike or something... They call it a "Moped". Then you go around in a 2D landscape with only one mission... Collecting apples... When all the apples has been collected, you need to find a goal... a flower... You can save you replay and send it to http://www.moposite.com and see if you can beat that levels world record...

The fun thing is that the bike is elastic and with some skills you can "bounce" through the levels which is sometimes needed to complete.

I want to create a game a little like this. But I can't think of any way to control the reaction of the wheels (the bounce and gravity effekt). Try the game to see what i mean.

I can't give you a screen shot because they get all black and messed up.

yeah ive played it, a strange little game. Though programming may not be so easy. But it really depends on how long you've programmed isn't it? Good luck.

Thanks... Luck is what I need..
I started very many years ago with Batch programming. Then I continued with Visual Basic. After 2 years of non programming, I startet using Click 'n' Play. Then wanted something with a little more power, so I started searching everywhere for "3D Game Programming Tools" and I ,luckily, found DBC. After using it for about 5 month, I upgraded to Pro back in December 2002...
But I only finish small and useless tolls to make life easier when using windows...

The only thing I need some help for (I think/hope so), is how to create the spring effekt on the wheels...

This game is mostly played in scandinavia I think. Because on moposite you can download over 10.000 user created levels (I have em all) and in some of them there are comments in danish, norwegian and sweedish...

Great little game mate. I recommend everyone downloads the demo. Ive wasted (?) ages these last couple of days playing this!

As i always say, a little bit of physics goes a long way in a game

Really great game. I never believed that any 2D-game can be so attractive after 90's.

What about modernizing it to 3D or at least 2.5D ?

I had the full version of elastomania once. I offered to write background music for the game and the author very kindly sent me registration details, even though I never wrote a single note! Definitely a guy worth giving your money to.

Its quite fun, I am on level 51(2 more levels to go!)

Really cool game since I used to Play MotoCross.

Cheers.

I know a man, who made this cool game.

Somebody said me on this forum that russian programmists don't know how to make games. Can some one make the same?

I'd like to change the world, but God doesn't want to give me sources!

I wanna try but some1 have to help me with the physics, which is the difficult part (i think).
There must be someone on these forums who can help and want to give an example.

This is a so wonderful to see more people get involved with elasto mania, or elma as I would prefer to call it. And you are talking about bounces eh? The easiest way to learn, is to loook at this replay:

"Post from Mopolauta, the unofficial message board for elma" wrote: "
http://members.lycos.co.uk/onlainari/files/voltdemo.rec

here is some volts too made in gravity ride..

-first some non-flat little bounce back

-then drop + normal bounce to air

-then using the gravity and immediately making kinda brutal volt without speed

- then getting air from the wall. backflipping from the wall

- then backflip on flat

- then normal brutal volt followed by another brutal.. so i guess its elite double brutal compo.. BUT not the double brutal volt..in double brutal volt u actually should spin 2 frontflips in one jump.

- then died

http://members.lycos.co.uk/onlainari/files/brutdemo.rec 2 backflips on flat "

Download these files with exstension .rec to the C:\Whatever\Elasto Mania\Rec and start elma.exe . Push enter, bla bla, then access 'Replay' section. then select the replay, and see how to make these bounces. The basic idea from a normal 'bounce' is that one wheel get's pressure and then bumps. So if you fall out the sky, wheel get's pressured and you bounce. If you want more info, check these sources:

or if you use IRC, join #across on IRCnet <--for kickass conversations.

The Moposite (see above url) is the main for our elmascene, here you can d/l levels, more replays, even graphical files ofr changing elma graphics. and of course the latest patches. Just check it!

OBEY ME, check it.

elma, thats a very sweet game

We used to play it all the time at school, and now i play it at work too

Stuff like using the back wheel on a platform whilest your front wheel is underneath the platform, (kinda hard to explain), will be very hard lol.
