Hi guys!

I've decided to make a media pack and sell it for $1-5 USD (not sure yet, depends how many are interested).

In it, I will have Models, Segments, and Music, among other things depending on what you want.

so, if you could take this short survey, it would be helpful. At the end of the survey add any other comments you would like to make, ex. type of model, segment, or music genere.
Upcomming Media Pack Survey

Depending on what you want it will be out in a month or two.

Here is a sample screenie (it looks better than that becuse the screenie is .jpg)

Post any other comments here.

I don't think you can sell whas in the example screenie, becuase that background comes with winows and is probably copyrighted.

I'm not going to complain or anything, but since you are taking a survey.

The real question is.... do we really need items? Do I need yet another computer screen for FPSC? I don't think so! Do I need yet another crate for FPSC? Please, I've got over a 100 by now. Everyone seems to make the same kind of static entities and we hardly see anything original coming anymore. It's all the same old stuff.

So if you really want to make an outstanding media pack, do something new. Go fantasy.... go medieval.... go whatever, but not what everyone else has done before.

If you really want to make something good, pick a theme and create a full media pack for the theme.

For example.... pick medieval. Give us medieval related static entities (furniture, a barrel or two, 2 crates at the most, medieval weapons, tapestry, candles and so on). Then create matching segments, floors, doors and so on to fit the theme and then add music to make it complete.

You're not done yet.... if you really want to make it complete add a few medieval characters to it and you're in business.

Make it good quality (at least as good as the model packs FPSC do offer) and ask $20 for it.

Now we're really getting somewhere.

I'm not good at making characters and have no experience animating.
That's why it isn't even going to be close to $20.
I will put some thought into making medieval stuff though.
I wasn't going to make any crates, i agree everyone already has 100's of those.

I would try to make weapons but I have no idea how to get them fpsc ready so that is out of the question.

If anyone else has a request just mention that in the comments at the end of the survey and I will try to include it.

Do any of you want guns?

I'm getting the hang of modeling and could try to make some decent guns to add to the pack. They won't be Jon quality though.

What type of guns? Modern? Scifi? WW2?

I can't make them fpsc ready so maybe someone else could do that.
They would be textured though.

what do you guys think?

I think in order to get practice modelling and texturing, you should focus on objects first, and maybe do weapons and characters in later packs. I don't think anyone would want to pay for weapons that are not FPSC ready unless they are something spectacular. I agree with Benjamin that you should take a look at what other model packs include, and make yours different.

I would get some more practice before trying to sell anything, i dont think anyone would buy a pack that is half good.

My advice would to do some new models and put up for free to get feedback on your work.

Good look in your projects.

i did that already, i guess nobody pays attention.

Quote: "I think in order to get practice modelling and texturing, you should focus on objects first, and maybe do weapons and characters in later packs"

that's all i've been doing for the past 4 months, objects.

anyhow in that case ill wait a while to get better and put out some more samples of my stuff.

You guys can still answer the survey though, if I ever make a pack for sale, I'm going to make what you answered to in that survey.

any screenies of what I make will be posted here i suppose.

Is the brick wall on the left of the image a seamless texture? It doesn't look like it would quite line up with another of the same wall next to it. Otherwise, everything looks pretty good.

yes, all but 1 or 2 of the textures are seamless.

I think one of the tile ones is not seamless becuase if I made it seamless then it looked retarded, it looks ok though.

so, yea, that wall is seamless.

thanks for the comments guys!

edit: I've made a computer tower model, this is exactly what my computer looks like. I think it's pretty good if I do say so myself.

I made a .22 long rifle using mine as a guide.
animation and getting it fpsc ready was done by walking dead productions (great job, thanks man!).

here is the screenie.

Guys, seriously, come on. I've made three posts in a row and only about 3 people commented but 220 views. Please post your constuructive comments! I need to know what you guys think of them.

Honestly if you want constructive critisim, ill give you some tough critisim,

the segments suck, the model you have in fpsc i couldnt tell what it is, but the computer looks nice

the segments try and make them more detailed, and less pixelated, *not assuming that you DIDNT make these* but they look like you took 128x128 already made textures and are selling them. not to assume things. the model i saw in fpsc looks nice from what it shows

ok, ill stop making the segments and concentrate on the guns now. I already said that it was a .22 rifle in that picture.

I can up the ambient light a bit for future screenies.

even though you said that the segments sucked, at least you guys commented, thanks, I will try to take higher quality pictures with my camera .

anyhow, do you guys think I should focus on models (namely guns) now?

save guns for a little while. take a walk around your house, and try to model most of the things you use everyday. things lide a printer, a telephone, your bed, weight sets, model vehicles, potery and all sorts of things, and when you truly feel confident and feel a very strong pride in your work, practice a few more times, then model a gun.

I've already modeled a few guns, however I will do just that, common everyday objects.

by the way: is my .22 really that bad?

The 10/22 doesn't look bad but the screenie is just plain horrid. Place a light, turn on shaders or something. It looks like it has a nice shape to it but it's really hard to tell with such poor scene lighting and smoke obscurring the front half.

Did you model the bolt handle? I know they're sorta small but you should be able to see it from that view and it'll give you a moving part to animate.

The 22 isnt a bad model, but without the texture, i would never have guessd it a gun.

Much clearer this time!

What kind of pistol is that? The icon is a Beretta but it looks like an S&W so I'm a little confused. It looks like there's something wierd going on around the breech durring the firing animation and the angle the pistol goes to while reloading is really unnatural. It looks like a nice model though. Are you going to animate the hammer as well?

It doesn't look like a Beretta or a Smith & Wesson to me. To me, both the icon and the model look just like a SIG-Sauer P226.

desert eagle
five seven
glock
etc.

1. there's already a free one out there.
2. well, I made a five-seven.
3. also a free one out there.

That's also why I made the rifle, I saw that fpsc was lacking in semi-auto rifles which are my favs.

right now i'm attaching accessories to the weapons.

I'm putting a scope on the .22 now.

Next weapon might be an assault rifle, like a G6 or something.

by the way, Walking Dead Productions, are you done with the silencer version of the five-seven yet?

um, goto http://www.tannerproductions.com
(I think, AE come here and correct me where your tutorial can be found.)

and get AE's Anim8or tutorial (great one by the way), that's what I use and it is an excellent application, plus it's free.

after that, goto the anim8or website and follow the eggplant tutorial, than you will have all that you need to use Anim8or.

also download the gimp for textures.

Not bad. I don't know if it's the angle, but the buttstock seems a bit small. Also, I'm sure you can a fford a few more polys to define the Magazine Well better.

i don't know about the butt, maybe it is just the screenie.
the gun is already 1500 pollies, what should be the limit?

If I have the ability to add more pollies, I could add detail to the mag a bit.
