Hi!

I found an 'Ant' model here:
http://www.psionic3d.co.uk/cgi-bin/imageFolio.cgi?direct=Free%20Stuff/3D%20Models

This model was in ms3d format. I converted it to .x format.
The texture file was in jpg format, I converted it to dds format.
It is ok. But:

How can I make the fpe /fpi files for my ant?
Because I tried to use an existing Fpe file (Ai unnamed.fpe form scifi characters folder) And when I tested the game, my ant standed in his head ()

I' cant imagine how to make these files. Please help. I need these ants.

you have 2 basic options :

1. Use the Free Entity creator software from TGC. Its easy to use and comes with video tutorials.

2. Copy the fpe/fpi files from any existing entity and modify it to your liking. But, you would have to have some knowledge of the keywords and scripting to do that.

good luck,

look at how the model is arranged in your modeling program.

is it resting flat on the baseline, or off floating somewhere?

that could be your problem.

Take my survey please!

place your ant on the grid, use keys: 1,2,3,4,5,6,R to Rotate the thing off it's head.. bring it up and down with the Page up and page down keys.

Nue B. or not Nue B. That is the question.

Thanks all You the help.

I have good news, and bad too.

The good news: my ant now standing on his legs.
(I Opened the model again in Milkshape, and saved as DirectX 8 file with .x extension. Then I used TGC's Entity maker. And I made the files as showed in the tutorial video)

But the bad news: when I move, the ant follow my move with ass, not with his head. ()

I attached a little video to show what I want to explain.
What should I modify to make my little ant to follow my move with his head?

Well, I'm not sure about the script you're using to make the ant always face the player, but if that is all you want to accomplish, then I think the easiest way would be to make the ant always face away from the player.

I would have to see the script to be of more help.

BTW, because of the shadow that FPSC uses below the ant, you may want to lighten up the ant texture to make it more visible. It took me a minute to find them in the video.

Thank you for the ant. I didn't know he was animated. This will be useful.

Certainly.

But actually it is not my ant. It's from
http://www.psionic3d.co.uk/cgi-bin/imageFolio.cgi?direct=Free%20Stuff/3D%20Models

I only converted it to X format to use in FPSC.

BTW, If You can repair this ant files, to face me when I close to him, and no turn away like in the attached video, I will be very very happy

I'm a bit new in scripting.

The ant has his own animation in the fpe file which controls it. I think if you import the ant back into your modeling program and turn him around 180 degrees and then save him again, that will fix the problem. ( I think he is facing the wrong way to start with ) I can't say for sure, though.
