Can anyone beat this? It's a fridge, and it's a freezer, but of cause, as everyone knows there is an essential special feature that is definately going to keep your food fresh.

http://www.icelandappliances.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?ProductCode=SIE-FFR-KG39MT90-SS

Yep, you've got it, for the extra low price of just £2,939.99, that's right, just £2,939.99 you can have a TV built into the door! Isn't that totally, ruddy useless?

Can anyone top that? Go on, scour the internet for the most expensive device imaginable with a totally useless feature!

Oh, and here I thought from the title you were talking about the ps3. ZING! All kidding aside though, that had to be the biggest waste of money for something that can be so cheap. Sad really.

Wtf are you bitches babbling about?!?!? TVs are essential in the kitchen!! If any of you spend more than 5 minutes in there cooking, they're a life saver. If you're making a meal that takes a good half hour to 1 hour to make, you need some background entertainment.

That's a superb idea. If I had the cashesh and the kitchen with the fridge in the right place for it to be fully visible, I'd buy one right now!

OR buy a tv seperately and put it in your self, like on the worktop or something, if there was room....

Well, I know a few people with small TV's in their kitchen. If you want a TV in there, then this is great. Although a tad wee bit expensive, this isn't a bad idea as it's quite a spacesaver. Heck I have been to peoples houses with PC's on their kitchen counter.

Yeah, obviously anyone on a normal budget would just stick a normal tele in the kitchen. I've always had one. I think it depends on where you eat as well. We have a small table in the kitchen where everyone eats brekkie etc. so if you wanna catch the news in the morning while you eat for example, you need it. Then later in the evenings, if you're cooking something that takes some time, it gives you something to watch, or if you're eating on your own that night etc. If you eat in the lounge or a dining room, or always sit down for family meals (and have something worth talking about ) then there's no need for the tele.

@geecee
Actually, I think you might've highlighted a problem with kids watching too much TV, and childhood obesity. The TV fridge is basically a portal to ruining your child.

I think it's pretty cool, it scans your fridge and tells you when you're low on milk

The price isn't that bad, it's a nice looking appliance, and fridge's aren't cheap in the first place. As far as the TV, it's not bad, most kitchens don't really have a place for a TV.

I can see the need for a TV in the kitchen. However, I wouldn't care for one. I do 99% of the cooking in my house. However, when I'm cooking, I don't like distractions. Meaning, I'm serious about my cooking. I'm not the type that just throws on some Hamburger Helper and needs to kill idle time with some TV. I'm chopping, basting, broiling, grilling, etc, simultaneously while other things are happening. TV just wouldn't help that.

Now, most cooks probably aren't like me. They're probably just killing time until the next big distraction, trying to crank out the next 30 minute meal. My mom could have used a TV in the kitchen. It would have kept her from burning a lot of meals. Me? No thanks.

The only thing I could really use in the kitchen is an MP3 player. Right now I'm turning up the computer really loud which is a rather unpleasant household thing.

Most of the units like this I have seen are also actually touch sensitive screens, can track what is in your fridge, when it expires and can send an internet order to your local grocery store.

Also looks darn inexpensive to run energy wise.

I know lots of people who have small TVs in the kitchen. The picture on those fridges aren't that bad either, and they've actually been around for a few years now.

Price is a little high in my opinion, but it is stainless steel and those kind of appliances aren't cheap. My friend already has his washer in the same stainless finish(its ultra quiet too) and his microwave which can display in 3 languages. Next on his list is the fridge. Though I doubt he'll spend the money for the built-in tv.

I watched a ton of tv growing up yet I'm still skinny. I blame video games more than tv. I live in Ohio, which, as far as I'm still aware, is the fattest state in the country. And all I got to say on that particular is....dating ohio chicks suck!

lol, I wish I had your cash. Anyone thinking £3,000 for a fridge with a TV built into it, not being expensive must have alot of spare cash floating around. I spent £275 on my last fridge freezer combo, and it is quite swish. That leaves me £2,725 for a new TV to put into my kitchen. I'm thinking a 50" high definition plasma... http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1246472057.1159783878@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdiaddimjjldedcflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=Product&fm=20&sm=0&tm=undefined&sku=075212&category_oid=-25961

Anywho, as the the "tells me when the milk it out of date feature, and reporting the stock" what's wrong with opening the door and having a look inside. Unless the damn thing has advanced sensor's worthy of a star trek show, you're going to end up sitting there entering in the use by dates, and items for everything in your fridge. I dunno about you, but short of hiring someone to do it for me I'm unlikely to sit there entering in numbers into the fridge when I can just yank out an item and read the use by date!

No, all in all, £800 will get you a great energy efficant fridge and a decent TV to go with it.

Get used to it, we'll be seeing TFT TV screens imbedded in Microwave oven doors very soon - probably end up a lot more common than the fridge, just seems a more suitable appliance, and one that would act as a space saver for people who like a TV in the kitchen. The price of flat panel screens has dropped a great deal recently. You can go buy an Mp3 player now with a colour screen and video playback for about £23.
That's a lot more than you'd pay for a top of the range fridge though, even the big black Smeg fridges don't cost 3 freakin grand.

A microwave with a TV... puts a whole new spin on TV dinners doesn't it?

they can whack as much screens into whatever they want, as long as they add PC connectivity, i quite fancy having a scrolling message on my fridge door, and some cool animations, it would be handy for in-home lan party sessions too

why not try the PDA ubervac.

or the environmentally friendly wifi enabled wheelie bin.

See... you have it all wrong. It's not a fridge with a built in TV. It's a TV with a built in fridge.
They had to keep the screen somewhat small to make more room for beer.
