Hi, I've beenworking on my next contribution.

It's a working heavily animated set of binoculars
I'm calling the Combat Optics System.

I've deconstructed an old model of mine
and got a cool and functioning animated hand/arm model
that I'm gonna use on all my guns.

This is WIP, everything is working great
but still need to do bits and pieces on the sounds,
maybe try reskin on arm/hand, as well, I'm
trying to make it a melee weapon as well,
but I'm not certain if I can have zoom as well as melee
on same weapon? Tips?

This was very technical and my first model
for the game with multiple meshes, took
about 20 milkshape and lithunwrap vists and
projects to finally get the thing in game and working.
Gave me alot of insight into how much work goes into
weapons with multiple animated parts, this is not a job for
the light hearted, or lightheaded, I'm happy
to show you this screen, I'm looking for
help maybe to do with having melee with rightclick zoom,
but if not I'll be ready to let this baby out within a day or so.
No more quick releases for me, I'll take the slow road
this time.
check it out.

Nice looking Binos. You should certianly remap the hand though because they bring the overall look down.

I don't see why you couldn't do melee/zoom on the same weapon but if you're zoomed in and hit the attack button you'll still damage targets in melee range.

Is there an example of a gunspec.txt file which has
meelee and zoom?

All you need to do in gunspec is add the following lines to ;GUN settings...

zoomode = 1

and

range = (Some low value. Not sure what because I don't have any melee weapons.)

Also, add in ;Gun Visuals:

zoomscope = scope1.tga (or .dds, etc.)

This is the alpha'd hud image overlay when zoomed in. You can use one from commando, etc. as placeholder until you create your own.

the range should be around 60 or 70 for melee weapons.

I got meelee implemented, now only got to do
the running animation and try to get the hand looking
real and a decent zoomed hud.

I've done the animations but backtracked to make proper hands
which are useable for other weapons etc, here is a screen,
took a day to rig up working UV'd hands.

Those binoculars are from FPSC, you can not give out models which come with fpsc, we hve told you this before.

Higgins which "we" are you refering, the royal or just plain?

I've already done this debate with Bananagun thanx in part to
you Higgins, and if you go read the BananaGun thread properly
you will see that, the BananaGun remains available, despite
your proposition in fact.

However, I've started to model my own COS lenses anyway,
just because I feel like having modern binos is more useful
and fun than sticking with the boring second world war for much longer.

You can in fact notice the deconstruction taking place already,
and from now on I think any animated stuff I offer will be by invitation/request to download anyway.

The Habeus corpus aspect of this debate remains a joke,
show me the licence I will believe more then!
Until that day, I don't believe a word you say Higgins.

My stuff is free!

peace out.

Definition:

Habeas Corpus is a Latin term which means "you should have the body," and is a legal principle which requires that the government must present an accused and arrested person before an impartial judge in order to prove that there exists just cause to hold that person against his or her will.

As these is no actual file for download here there is no issue. But I will clarify again for the sake of everyone reading this: distribution of our raw media is not permitted, only modifications of it (textures, scripts, sounds, etc) is allowed.

As the binocs are being rebuilt from scratch anyway this is now a moot point in this instance.
