This script changes the default "PRESS ENTER TO USE" on a switch to a "ENTER ACCESS CODE" in order to open a door or whatever you might use a switch for. You can change the access code in the script, as well as the button sound when a key is pressed.

The script, instuctions/license, and "ENTER ACCESS CODE" image are included.

Script does not work as is, for me.
I have made a decent hud picture for this script and it can be downloaded here, it's better than the white placeholder image provided in the zip file.

I approach the switch and the white hud picture comes up but
I get no sound when I type in 1234 and the switch does not change to unlocked/open, and the door does not open, I'm using on a remote door thats been working fine from a switch for a week.

I hope it can work because it's a great gameplay add

I don't know what happened with the white placeholder. I must have zipped the wrong image. Thanks for the new one.
As for the rest, it sounds like you are pointing to the wrong fpi script. I can't say for sure, of course. It works for me.

Also remember, that's 1 2 3 4 on the numeric keypad, not the main keyboard. Make sure your numlocks is correct or change the keys.

I didn't realize it was numeric keyboard I'll check it out.

Yep works great now!

I like this script, finding access codes and so on
is something to do!

One thing to contemplate though, it's incredibly easy to hack
if you have the sounds on, just keep hitting numerics until you
get a confirm beep and do again.

I guess that's one more choice for the game maker. Make it easy, or make it hard. Also, you dont have to use only numerics. You can use alpha keys as well. Just try not to use any keys that are already assigned to other tasks in the game or it will cause problems.

To all who have questions or issues:

Please don't take this the wrong way. When I made the script it worked fine and most people who downloaded and used it said the same. I can not account for anyone's computer or program and how they may or may not have installed or used the script, and what differences there may be between my program files and your own. I hope you can figure it out, as I had to in the beginning, and get it to work.

I just don't have the will or patience to support it, or try to determine the causes of your problems. I give it over to you completely as I've moved on to other things. Perhaps someone else will be kind enough to shed some light on it.

I wish you the best.

I understand the situation .

But i do thank you for the script, i will study this more and try to account for this problem.

If any body has any ideas to this bug, i would please ask for your assistance.

Cheers "hope you can help"

@Nue B

Your post is a little confusing but it seems that you may be accusing me of stealing something from you. If this is not the case, please forgive my misunderstanding. If it is, you should have e-mailed me with the accusation instead of posting it for the public to see. But since you chose to air it in public, let me clear things up for you.

A simple look at my script should have shown that it was not yours. Now I have never seen yours, but I just can't imagine that they are the same. Your post seems to be a poor attempt to blow your own horn and let us know that you know a little scripting. Only a big-headed idiot would make such a stupid accusation in public.

Like I said, if that is not what you meant, then none of this applies.

Best.

Once again a quick look at the script should have clued you in, but thanks for clearing that up. You weren't really saying I stole it, just kind of implying, just like I was kind of implying that you were a big-headed idiot, but not really saying it.

Best.

Good Job xplosys. I've been working on my own for the past few hours, and now I see this! Luckily, not all my work went to waste - in mine you can enter the wrong number and it 'resets', if you want I can send it to you to look at

EDIT: Though mine is a bit complex - newer users will find yours more inviting.

Okay, I'll send it in a sec.

The reason I find mine more useful is that with yours you can kinda just press all the keys randomly and get it. With this it takes a bit more guess work (or just finding the code like a good person ) because of the reset.

I really had no purpose in mind when I made it. I was just taken by the scancode bug and trying to make everything I could think of. lol

I'm over it now and on to other things. I will cetainly use it in the game I just started so your script will help.

Thanks.

I have my own version of Switch Code Script. This is harder to work but it works better than original. Regulal code of that Code Snippet is 1-2-3-4 of right number pad.

Original version bugs: if right code is e.g. 1-2-3-4-5 and you put e.g. 1-5-2-6-3-5-4-5, code is right and door or other entity is action.. ??

Very complicated script, can anybody test?

And, nobody hack!

Change the scancodekeypressed value to a value for the numbers above the letters on your laptop. Search Google for a scancodemap or something like that.

Hate to bump this up again but just wanted to say thanks to xplosys. This was code I really needed and am using it a lot. Also I thought I would make available the scancodes in a bmp image. Should be linked in the "view" and/or "download" buttons. I believe that this is also courtesy of xplosys. Maybe I got it from the fps tips and tricks pdf file. Can't remember.
