Fortunately Rich helped me fix one big problem I was having with DBC. Another remains, but I'm not sure to what degree. Could you provide some feedback on this demo: http://thehobbit.mine.nu/SkyCars.zip?

I'm averaging about 40fps now, sometimes less. GeForce4mx440, P4 1.7GHz, 128DDR, Win2000 Pro SP3, DX v9.0a, latest NVidia drivers, the works... I'm curious to see if it's just me getting the laggy rates (which I highly suspect is so), but also I'm curious as to what degree mine and yours differ.

Please test this very early demo of my upcoming SkyCars and tell me how it performs. Also, please include your system stats. Run the test several times, for there are several different random events that can occur... try to roughly average the performance from each.

Good news is that it's a fun test!!

Controls:
U,D,L,R = directions
SPACE = jump
Q = quit (without leaking memory)

Okay, I'm running it on a 2Ghz Windows XP GeForce4 Ti4800, and I get 39/40 FPS
Controls dont seem to do anything though (apart from quit). Nice graphics

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...

Scratch that original statement, I'm averaging between 15 and 30.

Controls don't work? That's really peculiar! It's just the arrow keys and space. You may have to hold them down a bit to get a response...

PIII 1.0 GHz, 512MB RAM, Windows XP Pro, ATI Radeon 7000

fps roughly 30

sometimes the game just crashes and I get an error 31

You're ate up like a soup sandwich.

Thanks for the review. Never heard of Error 31...

*sigh*
This is looking bad. Good news is that it's not so much that my system is sluggish anymore; bad news is that somehow I've programmed an inefficient game.

I changed a few things around involving syncing and the display mode (now 800x600x16). Any improvement? I now get about 30fps myself.

i ran the program about 10 times on a 1.2ghz, Geforce2 GTS, 768B ram and was getting 40fps min, going upto 53fps towards the end of the level.

looks like it could be a cool little game when it's finished.

Alright! Finally a good reading. I have a good feeling about this project too.

I think the problem may be in the background scenes. The textures are really large BMPs on all the circles (for planets/sun) and large JPGs on the 2 nebula/wormhole things.
